It's also a minimum purchase of $150... so you have to (1) purchase today (2) use PayPal (3) be in a qualifying category and (4) be a minimum purchase of $150

Not as easy as "Anything you buy on eBay today is quad eBay bucks"

That is how I understood the terms. Which means that you will get them and they will count, if in fact you meet the requirements. You are correct it is not as easy as buy anything today, but I feel the way you stated your post was that if you did buy today, you wouldn't earn them. Or maybe it is just the way I read the last sentence. Could just be me.

EDIT: I reread your post, I hear what you are saying about the anything purchased, but the terms are pretty clear as to what needs to happen. At least I thought they were. I received the email as well.

Well most of the time the double/triple or more eBay bucks is only good for categories I never shop under. So I'm used to missing out on those. Though I have racked up on double best bucks a few times when it wasn't so category dependent.

I bet this will save them a lot of money in the long run, and it'll also inspire people to make more purchases (i.e., if you're at $225 with a few days left in the qualification period, maybe you will spend the extra $25 to get over the $250 hump for the quarter).

Realistically are people actually going to be that mad about missing out on $4.99 or less that it takes 3 months to earn? Even if you earn minimum wage, go pick up an extra half hour of work and you'll cover three months' worth of "lost" ebay bucks. Or go walk around the Walmart parking lot looking for loose change and you'll probably be able to match it as well.

I don't mean to sound pompous but it's important to keep things in perspective here...no one is getting robbed by this update. Ebay is a business, and eBay bucks is a promotion to inspire people to spend more money on eBay, which makes their business more money. If you're not spending much money in the first place, then they're losing money by offering you the promo.

A few years back when the return rate for eBay Bucks was much higher I forfeited $125 because I forgot when it expired. Yea, it sucked for a short while cause I could have gotten something else but at the same time, it's free money for spending what I would have in the first place. eBay has no obligation to give me ANY cash back and if the program ended tomorrow, it'd not change my spending habits on there or my view of the company. I'm grateful it's there and every quarter it allows me to get 1-2 extra nice card(s) or a portion off a game used purchase.

I have no issues meeting the threshold now but if you spend less than the new minimum, is that $3 in eBay Bucks every 3 months really going to matter? One would think it wouldn't but it appears the opposite here.
