First off, I'm from Toronto and I have nothing but respect for Chris Bosh. He was great for the city, a fun guy, donated his time and money, and loved the twitter. However, when you start rambling on about how it's not about the money and it's just about winning, you're going to get people hating you.
Sure, from the looks of it, Bosh and Wade won't make MAX money but maybe I'm missing something.
So they're not going to be making 25% of the total salary cap (14.5) but rather somewhere around 22%
Florida's lack of a State Tax more than makes up for this, especially compared to the Socialist Haven that is Ontario. Chris Bosh will make MORE money by taking less money. So don't tell me this isn't about the money. Also, maybe if you're taking a mid-level exemption of about $6M, then you could say, "This isn't about the Money." As it stands, these guys are willing to take less money on paper by about 1-2M. If someone wants to explain to me why taking 110M instead of 125M should be praised, please step up.
This really bugs me because turning down a few million dollars when you're making that much isn't something to be praised. Chris Bosh has opened up infinitely more marketing possibilities in Miami and I bet his NET income goes up around 15% based on what he'd make in Toronto.
So please, don't say this isn't about the money. If you want to say it's not about the money on paper, go nuts, but if you're going to make more money in Miami, how can it not be about the money?
