getting back into football after a 15 year hiatus.

noticed today that Topps Chrome and Bowman Chrome Football cards DO have
the famous "etching" that has been missing from their baseball counterparts
since the release of 2007 BDP

Anyone have any idea why Topps went this route?

Im guessing that Bowman Chrome Baseball is far more popular. Likely takes longer for them to create the cards if they use etching.... when they print more cards for baseball the time involved means it would take longer to print the cards. And since we still buy the product.... why would they want to change things.

Simple. You'll buy the product no matter what.

It's different brand managers, baseballs manager does not like etching.

That's the way I see it. The base chromes this year don't even have color! They seem to be more conservative every year yet the product still sells. Since 2000 stadium club chrome came out, I wished topps would discontinue the etching. But when it finally happened, the chromes didn't look as nice as I had hoped.

That guy must be a dick. Only dicks don't like etching. :grouphug:

LOL I guess I'm a dick then.
I always looked at the etching as a printing flaw. Just didn't like it.
Of course I think I'm in the minority when I say I'm not a big fan of the Xfractor design either.
It makes the design too damn busy for me.
To each his own. :grouphug:
