Just what the struggling and rebuilding Astros need...a 31 year-old on the decline.

Well done.

I dont suppose Sarcastica is near Houston is it Mike?

I like Barmes, but will he play second for the Astros?

Barmes is a good defensive player and was always well-liked in the clubhouse here. But the next time he does anything but strikeout in a crucial situation will be the first time since his walk-off homer off of Trevor Hoffman on Opening Day, 2005.

Sarcastica is about 20 miles south of Galveston, currently with 100% humidity.

The Rockies could have absolutely fleeced the Astros if Felipe Paulino can overcome the injury bug and finally put it all together. He was completely snake-bitten in Houston. Then again, he may never pitch another inning.

On the other side, this shows just how insecure the Astros are in Tommy Manzella. They annointed him the starter last year without making him ever earn it and he was pretty bad. Barmes is insurance.

Finally, this move eliminates one more hurdle in Jordan Lyles' path to the majors. He is now one starter closer to the bigs.

Damn, glad we - at least - managed to get something for him; 2010 was his last year, regardless of trade. He's a big fan-favorite, and I hope he has some success post-Rockies tenure.

It's sad to see him go, but he wasn't going to play anymore in Colorado. The walkoff on Opening Day, the preposterous April/May 2005, the deer meat, and "the catch" will be small pieces of Rockies history forever.

He has a chance to get some regular playing time in Houston if he plays better. He went through a rough year in 2010. His wife was pregnant, and recently gave birth to their second child. His father (age 56, I believe) fought cancer all season, and passed away about a month ago. Hopefully he can have a better year both on and off the field.

This is perfect for me, because I spend about half of the MLB season in Houston. I'll be able to see him play, and try to get his autograph just like always.

After today's news this is one of my favorite pieces in my collection:

Thrown by Paulino fouled off by Barmes.

To tell the honest truth...I am not even surprised. You know something...when we got a good team and went to world series, we had a mix of homegrown talent via our farm system and we also acquired some pretty damn good players. There was a time when the astros had players like Beltran, Kent, Clemens, Pettite, Biggio, Bagwell, Oswalt, and Berkman all on their roster. Now we trade nobodies for nobodies. Now we acquire such huge pieces as Jeff Keppinger and Aaron Boone. I wish Drayton would sell the damn club already. We need somebody who will actually spend the ridiculous amount of money we have to pay to watch games. Why not try to make a better team instead of trying to just pull off a semi better organizational slant than the Pirates.

I needed someone from the area to get the location, so thank you.

I always thought Sarcastica was more towards Beaumont and Port Arthur not south of Galveston
