found this in an article on NFL.com:

When I talked with new Kansas City Chiefs coach Todd Haley, he was quick to point out that he called Tyler Thigpen and told him not to surrender the starting quarterback job to recently acquired Matt Cassel. Haley said: "Check my history. The best guy will play."

so if Tyler Thigpen is the better QB.......the Chiefs traded their 34th overall pick to NE to do what NE didn't want to do.....PAY CASSEL A FUDGE TON OF $$$ TO BE A BACK UP.......wonder what Scott Pioli thinks of this.....or if he's even heard about it yet.

I think he's just saying the right things, no way in hell Thigpen plays unless there is an injury.

Maybe it's just encouragement for the guy, he has no way of being the starter for the money Cassel's getting. Just to not make him feel like crap cause he played really well for the starts he had.

the Chiefs won 2 games......and Thigpen only played in one of them.....he played like crap last year......which is why Cassel is their......they don't need to sugar coat anything for him......he knew what was up as soon as the Cassel trade went through.

It's just to keep the backup happy and help him to stay involved. Backups are VERY important (just ask Cassel).

I am a very big KC Chiefs fan. Haley just made these comments to give Thigpen some hope. It seems thigpen is constantly in the news marketing for himself. At the end of the day Pioli makes the decisions and Cassel>Thigpen
