1. You're talking about a guy that missed significant time for breaking his hand in a bar fight. Yes, kids do stupid things. Risking your multi-million dollar career in a bar fight takes that to a whole new level. Obviously he has some maturity issues.

For what it's worth, I have it on very very good authority that the fight at the local club, Razzles, where Cole was involved dealt with Cole defending a pregnant woman who was being assaulted. Obviously, he learned his lesson.

what a stupid thread. Whoever started it is a ******. Yea the guy made some dumb comments this post season and the whole year he has had a tuff time. But get real, OVERRATED? THE GUY BASICALLY WON THEM A WORLD SERIES TITLE LAST YEAR. He can have a off year. He has already done what some pitchers/players go their whole career without accomplishing.

2. Is it really a long season? His team plays 162 games a year, half of which are at home. That means he's on the road 81 days out of the year, not including spring training. I'm on the road more than that for my job, and I keep my head on straight for far less than 7 figures. He's also home for most of the major holidays, including Christmas and Thanksgiving. He could also afford to take his family with him everywhere he went if he wanted to.

3. He's better than he pitched this year. I buy into the theory that the WBC hurts pitchers, and they need to figure out a time to have it other than when guys are preparing for the season.

4. If you say you're ready for the WS to be over before it starts when each team has an equal shot to win, then that's one thing. Saying it while you're team is down implies that you want the team that is beating you to finish you off so you can go home. I would be pissed if I were a Phillies fan.

Seems to me that Cole Hamels had a unbelieveable year last year and maybe all the post sseason excitement that he partook in may have contributed to his drained feeling at the end of this year. Its pretty common for popular players who had great years and win championships to not be able to say no to any opportunity that comes their way and "strike while the iron is hot". These opportunities allow them to make tons more money for endorsements etc. Without taking time for themselves in the off season and recharge the batteries its very easy for a athlete to die out at the end of a long season and I think thats what might have happened to Hamels. I think his comment was taken out of context and hopefully he will take the time off he needs this off season to re-charge.

As for Myers, I think he is a tool and a really needs his butt kicked. Last I looked Hamels has produced better than average over his career and Myers has done nothing but disappointed. He never lived up to the hype and after beating his wife and some of the other crap I have heard I wished he would be out of baseball by now. The sport does not need "tough guys" like this.
