collecting football

Hey guys, I really don`t collect football but am planning on picking some up. I do mostly baseball, mostly prospects and I know that usually prospects are not in every single release. Apparently in football players are in every release :lol:

So my question is, will i pay more for a card if its a more higher end product? From looking at some of the cards i`m interested it appears Upper Deck has the best stuff but the more expensive? Thanks

Yeah, generally the higher priced products contain the most valued rookies.
But there are other things that influence it as well - off the top of my head I'd say patches, scarcity, on-card vs. sticker and if the product/set has been around for and collected for years, are all going to effect the value.

In most cases the criteria there is met by the higher-end releases - stuff like Exquisite and SP Authentic, National Treasures, etc. but there are exceptions like Sterling- that is highpriced and doesnt have a huge secondary market, or high end releases that only come out once or twice (maybe something like Premiere, or see anything made by Topps).

Personally I like a lot of the Donruss products, because they have a lot of great looking cards and are affordable if you're breaking boxes or just buying singles.

Thanks. I was looking into purchasing this card...although its kinda of out of reach.
can you tell me why its going for so much? I figured its because its a new release, not to mention it is peyton manning as well.. I appreciate it.

I'm guessing the biggest thing with the Manning is what you had said - Black is the latest release, and it looks like that may be the first one listed.

Personally I'd probably hold off for that reason, since it's numbered #50 i'd take the chance and see where that one ends up and have to think some more will be listed. Maybe a Manning collector can shed some more light, though I know some people have criticized those cards, I think they look pretty cool and are unique...so that can also play into it.

I think the card is amazing but I also noticed that some cards were numbered lower and sold for less... I guess I`ll just wait ....thanks for advise!
