College Bowl Game Discussion Thread

Is this year not the worst year for BCS matchups ever? I mean the national championship is pretty solid but the others are bleh. Especially Georgia Tech vs Iowa..Has to be the worst bcs bowl matchup of all time. (sorry dalton)


Some intriguing matchups that I am looking forward to are:


Oregon St. vs BYU
Should be a high scoring fun game to watch here. I like crazy bowl games.

Georgia vs Texas A&M
This is a testament to see how far Texas A&M has really come. They have a very very young core and should they win, will prove they are on the up and up for sure.

Air Force vs Houston
This game may be 103 to 100 by games end. Both teams can score, neither has a defense. I just wonder if Air Force can hold up.

Texas Tech vs Michigan St
Yeah..I know...but both teams average 40 points a game and several hundred yards of offense. IF Texas Tech cannot stop Michigan state, this could be a crazy game. I hope it ends in favor of Tech, because I'll be there. Got tix Saturday


There are many others that I want to see, I will probably watch 75% of all of these Which ones are you looking forward to? Which matchups make you barf (usc vs BC..bleh)?

Ah hell no, your boys are going to stomp State. A pile of their players were suspended for a dorm fight and are not going to even be at the game 2 of their good WRs and one of their best cover guys .
Just busting some chops, if my dad ends up going I am going to see if he would snag me a ticket and then I would drive on down. Not like I kave anything else to do.

YA man we will see what happens he hasnt decided yet. That doof goes to most of States bowl games. I just want to get away from this freaking cold ass weather..

In addition to what Nate listed, looking forward to seeing these matchups:

Holiday Bowl: Arizona vs. Nebraska
The Huskers looked very tough this past weekend. On the bright side for me, earlier in the year they struggled to defend Texas Tech's air-raid spread offense. What does Arizona run? A similar version of Tech's offense, mixing in the run a bit more than the Red Raiders. If Arizona can find an early lead, they have a shot. Will be headed to San Diego for this one.

Sun Bowl: Stanford vs. Oklahoma
It'll be interesting to see how Oklahoma schemes to stop Gerhart on the ground with a pretty stout D-Line. Will Oklahoma gets caught in the play-action passing game that Stanford cut opponents up with all season? On the other side of the ball, Stanford's DB's are a vulnerable group, so Oklahoma will likely be able to throw the ball pretty effectively on them with their speed on the edge.

Big conference schools that get 2nd get screwed while weak ass conferences gets auto bid

Like the idea of tourney but not idea of auto bids for the above reasons

Doesnt bother me much. I think Iowa should win but i have a feeling it will be a better game then people are expecting.

What game would be better then the Iowa vs GT? I dont think any deserves to be in the BCS that's not in it more then thoes too.

Im also excited to see the Central Michigan Troy game.

Huh? How do you figure? Georgia Tech had 2 losesses. Ohio State had 2 losses. Oregon had 2 losses, Lsu had 3 losses. They would all be in the playoffs. I don't follow your logic here.

Yea i under stand what you mean. Thats how i felt at 1st its just not a pair of teams you would expect seeing in a big bowl like this i guess.

I noticed the weaker conference teams with auto bid and began typing response without seeing the rest of the bracket where some at-large teams made it
I need Christmas break to come so I can get away from students and a break from masters workload

I only care about three games.

1. Texas Bowl for obvious reasons. Go Tigers (got screwed though, deserve better than this)

2. I really want to see Florida lose to Cinci.

3. Hook 'em! Just for conference purposes.

Other than that I will just root for Big 12 teams.
