We still love them in Western Canada :D :D :D

Its a darn shame that Vancouver and Seattle both left the NBA. Could you imagine the hype in the Pacific NW if this second round match up was between the Vancouver Grizzlies and the Seattle SuperSonics???

It's actually kind of pathetic when you look at their attendance numbers in Memphis (which has a metro population of 1.3 million). When the Grizzlies were in Vancouver their winning percentage ranged from 16% to 28%, and for the first 4 years their attendance ranged from 17,183 to 16,109 per game. Even when we knew that they'd leave, their attendance remained at 13,737 per game (with a 28% winning percentage) in their last season. Meanwhile, in Memphis, they averaged 12,770 in 07/08, 12,745 in 08/09, 13,485 in 09/10, and this year's team drew 14,650.

Valid points, however being so close to Memphis I can see the way the market their team has increased 10 fold since they came here. They have sold out every playoff game (despite historic level floods in the City) they have had this year, and if you have been watching, FedEx has been rocking every game. They have to compete with so many things in Memphis, particularly large concerts, Cardinals AAA baseball, their Memphis Tigers, Beale Street and apathy for NBA basketball in general. I can really tell that interest is picking up, and with the team's commitment to providing a winning product i.e. ZBo and Gay extensions, I expect attendence to flourish in the next couple years.

YOU KNOW
how do you guys think this team will fare next season (if there in fact is one)? I think they are definitely an up and coming team that could make a decent run, but i just dont see them ever going all the way. as for the old grizzlies, i miss shareef abdur rahim, might need to pick up a card or 2 of his.
