Re: CONTEST: 1 slot in 2011 Finest/Topps Chrome player draft

I would have to say Nolan Ryan. He is/was a player a rather quickly has put together a winner. As a player he won a World Series with the Mets but that was a loooong time ago...41 years! He was only used once a got a save in the World Series. The team wants to win it for him....this was a quote about him: “He takes a lot of pride, as much as anybody I’ve ever met, in his community, and pride in being a Texan,” Daniels said. “The look on his face today, he was beaming at the thought of being in the middle of 54,000 of his fellow Texans. I think that meant a lot to him.” But if you are looking for a current player, I would say Lance Berkman because I thought his career was done by the shape he was in last year. Part of the "Killer B's" never got that World Series ring as great of a player and players the Astros had. Time is running out but how perfect would that sound being the comeback player and World Series winner! Thank you...

Thanks for the contest.

Mike Adams, he's a former Friar and seems like a great guy.

Corey Patterson, was always a nice guy in person.
Wish he would have panned out for the Cubs, but oh well.

I would be happy to see anyone that hasn't won a ring to win one. It would just be great to see the look on their face when they get it. :) Thanks for the chance.

Although I hope the Rangers win, I would most like to see Colby Rasmus get a World Series ring. Edwin Jackson also deserves one for taking a beating from the Brewers in August without complaint, thanks to LaRussa overusing his bullpen yet again.

I pick Ron Washington. I like his genuineness, how he is excitable and shows it. He seems to be the real deal. Don't see that in manager's these days.

Ryan Theriot because I have followed his career since his college days.

Michael Young because he has done everything asked of him and been a model player/teammate from what I've read.

Hamilton and Washignton

Hamilton has been thorugh so much in his career and has worked himself back on top of the demons so well.
Washington manages with energy and has also over came his own demons to reach where he is at.

thank you for the contest

I will be pulling for Adrian Beltre. I enjoyed his short stay with my Red Sox.

I also will be rooting for Josh Hamilton. It is nice to see him come all the way back from his addiction. Hopefully his story will reach more folks who might be struggling with their own addictions and see that there is hope.

I guess I'll say Adrian Beltre.

Part of me wants to be vindictive and not want him to win since he left the Sox.......but I know he wasn't in their long term plans, so I can't really blame him for leaving.....and he had a hell of a year last year for the team I love. So if he drops to one knee and hits a few bombs good for him.

I am going to go with Michael Young.. How many players in the MLB could have back to back years in the trade headlines, possibly going to multiple teams, fighting for a contract, no place in the field to play after moving from 2nd, to short, to 3rd and then the Rangers bring in a Dh/Catcher in the offseason, and yet hit .338 (3rd in the league) and 106 rbi (5th in the league).. this is a true professional in all aspects of the game. I believe he is the most deserving of a World Series ring.

Thanks
Jason
