2--seeing cards of guys I used to have classes with

4--the thrill of opening packs

9--thinking of neat ways to display them
10--the father/son memories it stirs up from when i was very young and my dad would buy me packs of 92 topps, and all the vintage yankees he bought me back then.

1. That thrill you get when you open a pack and find a PC card!
2. Hangin' with the guys at the LCS Saturday auction.
3. Winning that awesome 1/1 off of Ebay.
4. Busting a box and getting all your hits, and no redemptions!
5. Little bubble wrap packages every other day in the mailbox from all over the country!
6. The thrill of the chase to find that one card that completes your rainbow...!
7. That warm and fuzzy feeling inside that comes from donating a big ole box of commons to the Children's Home down the street.
8. Cleaning out your closet in the process of doing #7!
9. Seeing polite little kids come into the LCS to ask to buy a pack of cards, then getting excited by a common of their team's players.
10. Finally completing that set you've been chasing for months thanks to a trader online!

Bonus: Getting to talk baseball and cards with people with the same interests on forums like this? Priceless.
(Sorry, I had to! LOL!)

1 - friendship ---- I grew up in a trailer park and all of the boys traded cards. I remember getting a 1994-95 Finest Jason Kidd RC refractor for a base Jordan form the same set, his first return cards with jersey #45. As an adult I know not a single person (not online) that collects cards, so I NEED this site sometimes (most of the time).

2 - gambling on wax -- still a gambling addict, but I am much more controlled and smarter about what I gamble on. I wish I could do breaks like Andrew because I just want to open tons of stuff and not keep it.

3 - prospectors -- thanks to this site I began prospecting

4 - team collectors -- I am a Mets fan, I dont collect them as a team

5 - player collectors -- Thanks to many members this site (and old beckett) my Shawn Green colleciton has grown out of control.

6 - vintage collectors -- I have a few, but nothing I care to mention.

7 - The enjoyment of the troll threads and how as a community we band together to bash on the idiocy of others.

8 - Box Breaks & GROUP CASE BREAKS with Andrew (I have never got anything good, but I still enjoy them)

9 - On card autographs. I like all autographs, but on card are best. I know the player actually held the card at one point, the signature is not restricted and tiny, and the look of not having a sticker on my card is always a plus.

10 - CHROME - because it is KING. I used to hate buying Bowman products, but now I actually have some luck with the various products.

11 - 1990's Inserts !! No matter what they make now, or how much they replicate the looks, its not the same. Maybe its brushing the cobwebs off my memories but older inserts bring me back to when collecting was about collecting - not strictly $$$.

12 - Trading. Its not so easy when you dont know anybody in person that collects also.

1. Gawd, I love baseball (and I live in Houston!)
2. I have to pretend to like the Braves for my dad.
3. Big hits keep reeling me in.
4. The heroism of some players
5. Hating despicable players for their on field cheap shots
6. I went to my first baseball game in 1947 and actually saw Babe Ruth come out and wave his cap at the crowd!
7. However, at that time I was only 15 months old, and he kissed me on the forehead.
8. He also kissed my mother, but not on the forehead.
9. Sharing my hits with other customers at the LCS.
10. Seeing the hits that they get. It's almost the same rush.
11. See the drama on this board.
12 Seeing the selflessness on this board.
13. Opportunities like this.....
But most importantly
14. I have been opening baseball cards since 1949 and haven't lost the thrill yet!

Some of the best memories I have from childhood involve me opening boxes of cards and pulling a certain card. Likewise, my most memorable Christmases were the ones when Santa brought me boxes of cards!

Provides a productive outlet for my OCD habits

I love getting on here and reading threads about cards that sparked hobby interest, or that brought you back to the hobby.

Reading up and researching prospect cards helps provide a huge advantage in fantasy baseball!

What else am I gonna do at work? Work???????? :lol:

I love knowing the mailman is supposed to deliver something I ordered. The anticipation leading up to it is quite a rush itself!

Cards that I pull myself give me a rooting interest for players and teams I might otherwise couldn't have cared less about.

It's an expensive hobby, but it's one of the few that you can almost always have at least a good shot at making your money back if need be.

My wife hates it...good enough reason for me to enjoy it :lol:
