2000/01 Upper Deck Rookie Update Hockey
For the time period, it had the most bang for the buck in any sport. A bunch of numbered rookies, Lemieux cards (after not being included in the actual releases due to retiring/back/cancer), cool game-used inserts like the Black Diamond Goalie Gear cards featuring game-used leg pads swatches, Gaborik/Havlat/DiPietro numbered rookies and the Mike Comrie Black Diamond unnumbered rookie.

It was a no brainer at release.

1997 Pacific Prism hands down for me! The inserts (Cramer's Choice, Sizzling Lumber, etc) were amazing and visually stunning.
