i know this is the baseball board but i figured more people will see it over here and may be able to help me out. i posted this card i found the other night on the basketball boards asking for help, i got a few different answers but one member here thinks that it may be the first one found or maybe the only one that exists. it is a 99-00 upper deck mvp checklist #220 silver script i believe michael jordan but it is embossed with what the other member says is a jeff gordan logo. its a guy with sunglasses on. there was a similar error card in a baseball product as well that they posted in basketball boards ill try to post it here as well.

thanks for any help

Its an after market embossing. You see it with those people who make custom cards.

Wrong.

The embossing is more than likely Jeff Gordon. UD made a similar error in baseball - on Ryan Anderson's 2000 Ovation card (which was not supposed to be packed out because he hadn't made his MLB debut), they pulled the card and stamped it with an image of Gordon - presumably to let their distributor know that they were defective and should be destroyed. A few made it into packs. It's extremely rare and books for $150

I never heard about a similar MJ error. It would have made big news if it had been discovered

Your card could very well be unique, and it could be worth a TON. I'd email Rich Klein at Beckett and let him know. Include pics. He would probably write a story in his Errors & Varieties column

This could potentially buy you a lot of rum

Rich Klein no longer is at beckett but he is a member here and I'm trying to remember his Id on here.

Edit, his name on here is sabrgeek, he has is a vast knowledge of errors and cards like yours. Hit him up and ask away.

That is similar to the 2000 Collector's Edge Graded Lavar Arrington Rookie with the Red Mark Martin embossing.

$300 BIN OBO on ebay!
