Bring back JJ Stokes!

I hate seeing the rookies demanding top 3 money when they slipped in the draft. I also hate seeing Top 3 guys getting top 3 money just because it's become ridiculous for an unproven guy to make so much. They should get a set rate first year based on their draft position, and have their contract structured to go up/down based on their performance. It would never work in the real world, but I'm allowed to imagine it right?

Actually I heard this came up and will come up when they get the new contract with the Players union going.I think Goodell mentioned something about it.Basically what I think is a lot of these guys are very worried and want to get the most they can that first time around because who knows what can happen? If they go down with a serious injury they7 lose a lot of value and may never play again.Football careers can end on short notice and often do.Its not like baseball where you might have a whole lot of time to prove yourself and are able to play for a zillion years and the threat of a serious injury (for non-pitchers anyway) is slim to none.

I do still think its ridiculous though.

We don't need Crabtree - we have Isaac Bruce, Josh Morgan, and Jason Hill. Screw you Crabtree (good thing I didn't buy any cards of him yet.)

Josh Morgan was great last year before and after his injury. Jason Hill had his moments, and Isaac Bruce was a calm settling presence. Arnaz Battle is also a steady performer especially on special teams. I think our receiving corps would get a significant boost once Crabs signs and actually plays, but they are fine with who they have at the moment.

Isaac Bruce (for someone who should be in a retirement home) had 835 yards receiving and 7 TD's which ranked as #19 in the NFC.

Crabtree is now threatening to sit out the 09 season and re-enter the 2010 draft

that may be the worst receiving core in the league...i mean honestly having his moments for hill and morgan are just catching the ball..and i gurantee there is not one corner in the league worried about getting burnt by issac bruce, and arnaz battle...dont even get me started lol..the fact is crabtree would be the best wideout by a mile when he signs with the niners

Arnaz Battle will not be one of the starting 2 WR's for the 49ers - it will probably be Josh Morgan and Isaac Bruce. I've seen Bruce and Battle burn corners with their experience rather than their speed which is what Jerry Rice did for years after he got older.

And to put my money where my mouth is - I loaded up on National Treasures Rookie Autos of Josh Morgan. So we'll see if I'm right after the season is over.

Maybe the raiders were smarter than we think picking heyward-bay instead of crabtree.......at least they have someone who will actually play this year. Ok, maybe not. ;)

I guess they always cite the Robert Edwards incident.

Please take off the 9ers colored glasses. I can't name a WR corps in the league that I would take the 49ers over. Saying you don't need one of the best WRs in college history because you have a 50 year veteran and 2 young guys who might have some skills is unbelievably dumb.

I'm not saying that we don't need Crabtree, but that it wouldn't destroy the Niners this season if Crabtree did the prima donna act. Really? Who needs another TO? It's a team sport, and lots of the best players in college never make in the pros.

See Reggie Bush, Vince Young, Matt Leinart, Mike Williams - the list goes on and on and on. Prove you're worth the money before you make ridiculous demands.

The only team that's around the same level is the NY Giants.

8-)

Nice purchases. Can't wait to see Morgan at 100% this season. He played most of last season through that painful sounding groin tear. :x

Yeah now see...this is getting dumb.Little does he know if he does this it might cost him a lot more money. What the hell is he going to do for a year?Teams are not going to want him as bad next year. Not with a fresh crop coming in.I personally, from what I ahve read so far, think its his Uncle and family screwing with his mind more than anything. They seem like they are all trying to cash in....er...help him get more money.I would have no problem with him demanding what he is worth but then again...you basically have to sit down and think about your options and what you are prepared to do.I figure if he pulls this crap he loses even more money and teams are going to be even more wary of dealing with him because now they know what a pain in the ass e will be.

They were talking before the MLB draft about who takes what players and one of the things that came up was signability of each player.I am thinking this might have been why Crabs didn't go higher in the draft. The talent is certainly there but nobody wants a problem. And the way this is turning out...it could be nightmare.Bad part is it bites him on the ass more than the 49er's.
