I decided to start collecting some of my favorite baseball players slabbed. I first want to get as many 1988 and 1989 issues of Biggio in PSA 10 as I can find, and then start branching out to his newer issues. I have about 12-15 I have pulled that I may submit by the end of the month.

Here is what I have so far:

1988 Score Update

1988 Fleer Update and Update Glossy

1989 Upper Deck and Topps

1989 Donruss and Donruss Baseball's Best

1989 Score and Score Young Superstars

1989 Fleer

Hope to do the same thing in PSA 10 for Darryl Strawberry (already have the 1983 Topps Traded in a 10, and a 1984 Topps PSA 10 incoming) Hope to do Ripken, Sandberg, Gooden, and maybe a few others in 9.

Biggio has always been one of my favorites. He was a outstanding player. Great group of cards you have there. I collect minor lg cards & always want a gem Toros card.

Best regards!

Nice looking cards, but the top left corner of the 1989 Topps doesn't look like PSA 10 quality. Are Biggio PSA 10 cards very expensive? If they don't cost too much you might want to just wait for the cards to pop up on Ebay instead of sending yours in and potentially "only" getting a 9. I would imagine that there are a lot more 9's out there for these cards than 10's.

thanks. the 1988 Toros card is always on my search list, but I have not found 1 slabbed a 10 or one raw that I think has the centering for one. Hopefully I can find one of those sooner or later.

A noble quest. Good luck with it. I've been going after 1988 Mark Grace rookie cards in PSA 10 for two years. Down to the last one (Topps Traded Tiffany) of 13. Your Biggios look great!

I have a pretty good eye, I think it is just my scanner on the Topps making it look bad, the card looks a lot better in hand. Of the cards I am submitting all have a great shot at a 10 or I would not be sending them in. The price is not the issue on Biggio as much (except the 88 Score Glossy) It is just finding them. The mainstream rookies are easy to locate it is the oddball and collectors issues that are tougher.

Grace is another guy I dabble with, only thing I have slabbed of him is just his basic Score Update in a 10.

Man, I wish I could pony up and buy that PSA 10 Score glossy. It's just so much money to spend.

I need to find a new PSA 9 copy at some point, but I HATE PSA cases.

You have excellent taste in players :D

I have a 1988 Score Traded Glossy PSA 9. I don't remember what I paid for it, but I'm sure if it was over $100 it couldn't have been by much.

Wow I had no idea the Score Traded Glossy Biggio's go for that much. Usually box sets like that have a better chance at higher grades. A glossy Grace from that set, his best rookie, will only set you back $50-$75.

I'm pretty partial to these. I got them in a small lot of autos, I believe the others were all minor leaguers I had not heard of. I'm thinking they had to be signed no later than 1988, given the "#4" inscription on the postcard and the way his auto looks. I paid next to nothing for them and couldn't have told you at the time if they were legit because I bought them before I even decided to start a real collection, which is partly why I had them slabbed later.
