That may be the most valuable card in the set. More than the Williams or Clemente patches.

The last Williams patch went for 1k so we'll see where this one ends. That is a sick patch but it makes me wonder. If there is a Griffey patch like that imagine a Teddy ball game patch like that. That would be INSANE

I don't think Williams ever played for the Mariners.

Where in post did I say that Williams played for the Mariners? I was referring to a Ted Williams patch with that much of a Red Sox logo.

Out of curiosity, how are people coming to the conclusion that this patch is definitely real?

I'm not saying it's fake, but there are plenty of non-amazing patches in this set and we all know that the fakers can do a pretty good job at making the fakes look legitimate.

I agree that it's not an obvious fake. UD has used some good patches in this product, so it's clearly a possibility that the patch is real. But it seems far from a certainty.

Am I missing something?

You said, "imagine a Teddy ball game patch like that". And my response was that since he didn't play for the Mariners, I didn't think there'd be a patch like that. :)

Something is lost when you have to explain your sarcasm.

The Owner, who is a highly respectable seller, just said a few posts above yours that he pulled it.

I'm sure the patch is fine, but just because someone has an account on this site doesn't mean they are above reproach.

No, I saw that, but I'm new to the Boards, so it didn't mean much to me. I knew the seller was a FCB member, but I didn't know that he was a particularly trustworthy member. Thanks for the info!

Would you say for patches in general from 2009 Ultimate (of the not-pulled-by-trusted-acquaintances variety), would you say 'buyer beware'? Seems like UD mixed in some insane patches with some pedestrian patches, so this product would seem particularly vulnerable (down the line) to having the cards altered. I mean, that's true of all patch cards to some degree, but for this set in particular, large window + some legitimately crazy patches + big following would seem to yield quite a few altered cards down the line.

Either way, didn't mean to hijack the thread. It is a truly remarkable card and the most collectible that I've seen so far from the set.

No Problem.. I have bought off of Drew over the years and he is upstanding.. Also FCB has a feedback system as well..

The product has only been out about a week, and for the Kevin Burges of EBAY, I'm sure they will find a way to take some of the plain cards and make them like the Griffey..

Have you checked out any of the Ustream video breaks from AllinCards? You can see each pack opened and some great looking cards have been pulled.. So there is a video record of some of the cases being opened..

Good luck if you plan to pick some up..

Thanks! The video is a great resource. I'll definitely check it out. Seems like it's better to buy early on these, if you want to make sure the cards are unaltered.

UD should keep an archive of card scans to ensure patch authenticity, but I'm probably preaching to the choir...

Where's the breakdown? I wasn't being sarcastic. I even explained myself further but I guess I'll have to again. I was referring to a Ted Williams card with a that much of a Red Sox logo in it. In my opinion that would go for a insane amount of money. What part of that sentence is sarcasm?

I don't fault anyone for questioning the legitimacy of any logo/irregular/jumbo patch. Unfortunately so many scammers out there and fake patch artists that you do have to a "buyer beware" mentality. I firmly believe the only way to prevent the fraud patches are for manufacturers to maintain a registry and allow for it to be viewable online. It might even be something beckett to offer for a premium to their online subcription to detail patches or provide a picture.

I do appreciate the kind words in regards to my seller feedback and service. I am awaiting payment for an offline sale of this card! Very happy with the price, although I was very close to keeping the card as it falls into that category of "once in a lifetime" type pulls.

The card is obviously legit. It looks to me like UpperDeck PLANNED this awesome patch into the card with the numbering (3/35).
Number 3 probably was given this special patch being planned by ud, making it alot like a 1/1 patch.

The card was sold to Marcel from Legacy Sports Cards in Las Vegas. Very nice guy and it was great talking to him. I am not going to disclose the amount, but if anyone is looking to purchase a similar piece, I'd be happy to answer a pm for a ballpark comparison.

Thanks again everyone for the kind words!

I'm just glad that there are some current patch cards without auto's that are finally getting more than a few bucks as we pull some great cards.. It was and is getting old when you drop a grand on cards and then get about $400 back..

Again congrats on the sale..
