Nothing big but sources say that the Cubs traded Ronny Cedeno and a minor league pitcher for Aaron Heilman.

Dempster, Lilly, Zambrano, Harden, Marquis, Heilman, Peavy?

It says that he could compete for the 5th spot in the rotation, along with Marshall. If not, he'll work out of the bullpen. Marquis was traded to the Rockies.

Plus Peavy isn't a Cub. Sure he might be eventually, but as of now he is still a Padre.

I agree I know when they resigned Cedeno there were out of options on him.moxacaine said:hitforthecycle said:It looks like Garrett Olson is the other pitcher involved in the trade.
If true, bad move on the Cubs part.

Unless the Cubs have finally gotten tired of the Peavy charades and figure to take a shot with a much cheaper Heilman.Craig - 21hawk said:hitforthecycle said:It looks like Garrett Olson is the other pitcher involved in the trade.
That puts a dent in the Peavy to Chicago talks. Most "experts" thought Olson would have to be involved in any deal.

So basically they traded Pie, Cedeno, and Olsen for Heilman.
I don't see the logic unless the Cubs know something about Heilman that I don't

I understand but the last i read about him on espn was that he would become a cub once the new ownership took over. Thats why the ? was after Peavy
"This is a trade that just fit," Zduriencik said. "Our number-one goal is to continue to accumulate talent in our organization while doing everything we can to compete in 2009. Today’s trade allows us to acquire a young, left-handed starting pitcher with Major League experience that we will still control for five seasons. At the same time, by adding Cedeno we have a player who is very versatile and gives us protection and depth, and can compete for a job at second base and shortstop immediately."
