He shouldn't have rested, he should have flown to Arizona for one at bat.

I don't think anyone said hes done, but he's a below average shortstop defensively and batting .300 with only 4 HR's. That's a solid season, but not at 14 million this year or the years to follow.

well at least he gets to make up that travel for the world series should the yanks make it. regardless of who the player is blowing off the all star game and dick kicking those fans that vote for you is chump... STILL.

He is far from a below average shortstop and he isnt getting paid for the yars to follow. He is getting paid for what he has done and for the fact that he is th face of the franchise.

He was on the DL when he pulled out. Should he have come out and said, "Sorry Asdrubal, I'm reclaiming my spot in the ASG"

After being down 7-1 the Yankees scored 15 unanswered runs while hitting two grandslams.

Martin's grandslam was the first hit of the inning.

he wasnt on the dl when he pulled out...

Jul 9 vs TB W 5-4 5 2 5 1 0 1 2 0 0 1 1 .331 .354 .685 .270

Jul 16 @ TOR W 4-1 5 0 2 0 0 0 1 0 1 0 0 .328 .348 .676 .268

he pulled himself on the 7th... then on the 8th... then on the 9th... on the 10th he pulled alex rodriguez.

my point then as now is if the fans vote you on when you dont deserve it have the nuts to jog out to shortstop... go take your token at bat... you know the one that follows the standing ovation for the milestone you are bout to make and roll on. instead of giving the bird to the people who voted you in and those people who bought tickets to see you play. but hey thats just what i would do... and what do i know?

So true, but you will NEVER get any Yankee fan to agree with that!

But you Jeter haters have to give credit when due...

For a guy of his age to be hitting .260 in June and now hitting .300 is a pretty good turn-around considering the rest of the world (including me) felt his career was over.

At first they where bitching about him being voted in, now its a travesty he didn't show up. Its like speaking with someone who forgets their argument when its perfectly convenient. I guess when you play both sides of the fence and make a posts saying things like "he is done and over" you have to justify looking foolish somehow, otherwise people will be on to the fact its mostly blind hatred and baseless comments.

great post

The system is flawed. Fans should have no say in the process. That said he was a sentimental pick. So the least he could do is give an at bat to pacify the voting fans. I said the same thing when Manny did it. So now Jeter gets to use that all star selection on his hof resume, collects a bonus and not only did he ride previous glory to get voted in but craps on his supporters.
