A card exhange agreement

Seller could have pulled a ridiculous UD card that was either damaged or never fufilled, so UD made him one?

Hey I'm from Milwaukee too, I think this is the guy who bought that original hall of fame class multi cut with the fake Ruth and I think the Matthewson or Honus was fake too( it was on HBO) and he was compensated handsomely and quietly by them first replacing the fakes on his multi cut card and then giving him several very very nice cards( thats the talk at the shows here)

Well that's a nice card. UD's custom for him looks better than 75% of their released products  (especially as far as quality control goes)

That would make sense; he probably had to sign some sort of a NDA in order to put the matter to bed.

I saw both of those 1/1 cards on ebay too. Your explanation makes sense. I never really thought about it, but I'm sure if they are making him 1/1 autographs of Tiger Woods, LeBron James and Michael Jordan, it must have been a big pull to "buy" him off. Congrats to him!

Now that you say this, I'm sure this is what it is.

ahhh, so that's the reason why.

I think he's been compensated for his troubles very well, thanks for the replies!

It just seemed too fishy to me without this explanation.

Besides being pretty sure that the guy who bought the quad card's name was Kevin, and being 100% sure that the guy was from Waukesha (which is outside Milwaukee), the seller of the Tiger custom is definitely the same ebayer that bought the quad.

Here's the feedback for kevko-47 (Tiger 1/1 seller) from Beckettmedia, who sold the card for Barry (the guy that pulled it):

(you can see it here, second from the bottom)

If there is any doubt that this was the actual quad cut auction, note the item #:

(here's a similar link)

I don't know if all this detective work was necessary, but clearly the seller is the same person that bought the quad cut.
And there's really no other explanation for why he would have those amazing customs besides a settlement regarding it.

Nice work! Very nice work. It's good to know the story behind the card. So UD replaced the fake cuts with real cuts, so he still got the quad cut and the bonus stuff? Sounds like a good day for him!

Sure it was worth it - it earned you a "thank post" from me! 8-)

i dont know. i do remember reading in a beckett magazine that there was a redemption card issued, where you could design your own custom card with auto's. Im pretty sure they were in the Exquisite Collection. That's the case or UD reimbursed the guy for the quad cut card that is said to have forged auto's on it.

Well he has another card that he refers to as being part of a "card exchange agreement" in his completed listings. In that one he answers a question:

"A: The stipulations as set forth in the Card Exchange Agreement between me and Upper Deck prohibit both parties from divulging the details of this Agreement. Therefore I, along with Upper Deck, am legally unable to provide any additional information other than what is in my listing. Be assured however that this card is definitely legit and genuine."

So it doesn't have anything to do with a redemption from Exquisite to create your own card.

That was a baseball quad cut for exquisite. Not these.

EDIT : Not a quad cut, it was a quad with sticker autos.

Didn't he buy that card from Barry for around $85k though? Even with the MJ/'Bron dual and the Tiger...he's still about what, $60-$70k short (depending on what the Tiger goes for, of course).

He did buy it for $85k. It's been speculated that the card was "fixed" with authentic autos, and in ADDITION he received these custom cards.

I'm sure part of his argument was the that card has a serious black eye, even with new autos, and trying to recoup his $85k would be hard to do. So they gave him some "reimbursement" cards.

Also, we don't know that these are the only two cards he received. He may have 10 similar custom cards.

That is very possible. He may have a custom made quad Yankee cut auto tucked away in his collection as well. It seems the lebron/jordan and Tiger may have been the expendable ones- I wish I had that type of problem.
