I agree...I'm not sure what the advantage is of listing it on ebay after an agreement outside of ebay was made...

Im having a hard time figuring out why people do this? Whats the point of listing it on Ebay if you have already come to an agreement? If its to boost feedback I see a pretty major flaw in that. Lets say he lists it, its only there for 3 minutes but someone else sees it before thr BIN is hit and they buy it. The buyer immediately pays and is then told of what the situation was, that the card was only listed with another deal already in place. the buyer becomes irate and files dispute with Ebay that the person isnt fulfilling their end of the deal because their making deals outside of Ebay for an item listed on Ebay. would that not get the seller kicked off Ebay? I know its against their policy. The buyer would also likely leave neg. feedback if nothing else.

Seller probably listed it on Ebay for protection purposes. Didn't want Smigel to screw him over. I would have just done it through paypal myself. I happen to like the sellers return better than the Red Sterling.

To anyone that contacts a seller after an auction closes and letting them know that you will offer more...

...that is a total ***** move and your hands should be removed at the wrist with a hunting knife.

Why? The auction is over, a binding agreement has been met. Leave it alone. Regardless of who got to "best" end of the deal, if an agreement has been met, both sides are happy. In this case, even it is was just a $200 PayPal transaction, it is what it is. If the seller knowingly made a mistake, let them resolve it without any spectator interference.

Listing something with a BIN on eBay for too low and having someone swoop in and hit the BIN is a completely acceptable transaction and it's far different than selling someone's item short on an lowball offer...in person (IE: Dealers that lie about card values, etc.).

Absolutely, thank you.

100% correct. I was thinking more along the lines of being dropped off in downtown Baghdad with nothing more than a porkchop tied around the neck.

he said someone offered him over 700 or something after the auction ended, and there was nothing he could do about it, "card has been sold"

We shall see. I figured others have emailed him, so I went the "it's OK, if you made a mistake" route. I really hope the seller gets an appropriate value.

oh, well

I love it. You join this thread, which is obviously one that is centered around board members bitching and moaning how this buyer sits around all day and picks up a 1/1 LaPorta at a price that is ridiculously low. Board members speculate and bitch some more about how it is not fair that this buyer got the card.

Then you come in and say that you emailed the seller after the card was sold and offer him $400 more than what the card sold for after it was sold.

First, let me say that you are no better than an admitted pack-searcher. If someone did that to you, you'd be pretty pissed - wouldn't you? If you say no then you are lying.

Based on the item description, the seller obviously didn't know what he had. And even if he did, so what. Who cares who the lucky winner of the auction was.

Second, let me address the rest of the board members here - you all should be embarrassed because if you were the one who bought the card at the BIN price, you would've posted your "steal" thread and bragged for all the members to see.

The hypocrisy here is downright nauseating.

Really.

If everyone just minded his/her own business, this hobby would be a much better place.

And for the record, I have no connection to the seller or the buyer and frankly could care less about who buys and sells what card.

as much as I have come to dislike the buyer, this statement by Crash Davis is spot on.

Amen crash... Amen...

If you people cared that much about it you would sit at home all day as well and press buttons... you are unwilling to do so, so why cry about it. Did I cry when the super geeks sat outside walmart for 24 hours waiting for wii's... no I just didn't get one... my mistake for not waiting overnight.

Point is simple. Deuschebag Mcgee cares enough about his business to give up any social life to get the cards he wants. Like it or not he is devoted (in a scary way) to his obsession and hobby. It is no ones right to try to cheat him out of the card he won fair and square.

P.S. I love you all :)
