$8775 with the BP, and the auction isn't over yet. Guess I should hold on to the partial set I have, and just keep adding to it instead of breaking it up.

That's pretty cool actually, I need to do a complete signed set... it's really hard because the only full sets I have that would be good looking with a signature is 2004 Just Rookies... Which has Adenhart who is deceased, Perkins who flat out won't sign, and a few who aren't in baseball.

If you were to decide to do it, LMK, as I can probably help you out with it (I have a few Adenharts, along with other cards from the set).

Signed sets are fun to do, and some of the modern ones can be just as tough as the vintage sets, since some players are more difficult signers. What's surprising about that amount is that one of the tougher signatures in it, Alan Wiggins (passed away Jan 6, 1991 due to AIDS related complications) was not certified by PSA/DNA. Granted there are other toughies in there (Bo Diaz, Donnie Moore, and since it has the update set, it must have the super tough Fred Manrique), and I'm sure the provenance behind the set is helping the price, but still, that's a set you could probably complete for less than $5K.

If I can get any help at all, I would gladly do a set, especially the 04 Just Rookies. It is a simple looking set, not too small, and not too big. Pedroia and Lester are going to be hard, since I live in MN... I may be able to find a private signing and send some down there. I know there are a ton of IP on ebay, and I am sure the TTMers and IPers here have a few.

I could get the Twins done (minus Perkins) no problem.

Many of these were probably obtained by buying as well. It would save on time.

I thought about that but still, even if you take 60% bought (which is very possible), that is still quite time consuming to get the rest.
There are a lot of cards (672) in the set. That's a lot of autos.
It's just nice to see the entire set signed. It's beautiful as a whole.
Even if it took 1 day or 20 years, it's just a nice set.

I would like to think that the seller actually got them all signe IP. (or TTM). It may sound crazy and naive but that would be a heck of a project to complete and I would understand why we are only seeing it today. Imagine, the seller just got the last auto during the summer and held on to it until now (or maybe the past couple of years) to contemplate the success of such a huge project. Amazing set. Thinking this adds to the "value" IMO. 1 person, 1 set, all the autos. WOW!

If I were to complete such a cool project, I would have it framed, or all authenticated, or something of that nature... and I would hold onto it... I know it would be a buttload of money into it, and I could get more out of it... but it would take me 5+ years to locate all the autographs... I would grow too emotionally attached.

Yes very much so. It would definately be amazing if he did it himself.

True, I didn't count the multi-player autos. I myself would also be attached to the set. That would be the kind of thing I'd "keep in the family" for as long as possible and pass it along from generation to generation.
Having a set like that I'd get it authenticated as well. I would not want each individual card in a holder, just the certificate authenticating the entire set and autos and like you I'd get that framed together. (a gigantic wall set for a man-cave type of thing).

I've been slowly working on my 1991 Topps set for about 3 years now. As far as cards go, they are my favorite piece of my collection. They really grow on you due to all the time/effort, even though most are barely worth anything. I know I'll probably never finish it, but with 800 to go, I'll be picking up cards for a long time.

Yup. I had thought about going after it to fill in some holes in my 57 set and sell off the rest (I have all of the big cards this lot already had), but it got out of a possible range for me. Oh well, nice to know what mine will be worth when I get further along on it.

However, do you honestly feel that you can part with a set like that after all the work you put into it?
