UFC 111 in New Jerey. Is this not a complete joke. If it wasnt for Mir vs Carwin as the co main event I wouldnt even waste my $44.95. I know upsets can happen. For example GSP vs Matt Seera but this just makes me mad. Beating Mike Swick or Marcus Davis doesnt prove much. If fact the whole weight class is a joke. Dan Hardy doesnt have the strength, ko power, grappling or takedowns to beat GSP. Im not in love with GSP but its plain to see.

Big question for me is what does Dana do about this. Its all about the money and having interesting entertaining fights. GSP has done hinted he really doesnt want to move up to 185 yet. I think you let BJ Penn destroy Edgar, Maynard, Griffin or rematch with Florian and move him up to fight. Secretly they really want Condit to succeed. He has good fanbase which brings in $$$. Im done ranting.

There are no more good fights left for GSP or Silva or Penn in UFC.

They have conquered their respective divisions.

I thought Alves was going to demolish GSP, and got proved wrong, I thought Penn would lose to Diego and was wrong.

These guys are the best and will stay that way for a long time unless UFC makes some moves or they move up in weight

(Silva / GSP superfight anyone?)

I would love to see a GSP vs Silva fight. But what would happen after. Would GSP move back down? Stay at 185 even if he loses? Silva has done said he would not fight Machida under and condition if he was to move up.

It's a different ballgame when a title is involved.

If Machida is champion, and Silva has nobody else, I believe he would.

If there's no title, then yes, why fight your friend, but when fame and more money become involved, it's hard to say no.

I personally think GSP could fight in 2 divisions and still be champion in 1, if not both.

It would make more sense to stay in Middleweight if he moved up, unless UFC can land a talent to fight him...otherwise the list is small for guys to fight anymore.

I like GSP just as much as anyone and he will crush Hardy, but GSP/Silva is a fight that the fans want and should be made, but i see Silva dominating GSP,his reach advantage and striking would give GSP problems.

I have no idea who you are.

But I have read only two of your posts, this one and the one about Cung Le, and already I know you are a complete idiot when it comes to talking MMA.

I usually don't do things like this, but please go away.

Your two posts have hurt my head.

Im a person who lives in the real world. Not some dream fantasy world as most do. Im honest and straight to the point. I backed up my statement with facts. So you like Cung Le. No big deal. We all have are favorites and I can respect that. Im not going away unless I have broken the TOS. It seems the MMA forum is dead. Whats wrong with a little banter back and forth. People are so touchy these days.

No, I'm really not a fan of Cung Le, and I'm happy Scott Smith won, but what you said was idiotic.

But anyway, welcome to the boards, and I am one for bantering. I love it. So hopefully you'll being some more life to the boards. It's slow these last few days, but at times it's pretty booming.

Check out NECPilgrim's DaMMAgeControl blog. It's pretty awesome. He is on Twitter as well.

Cool. Glad we could cut through the BS. MMA fans are pretty passionate arent they? Looking forward to some great fights in 2010. It will be hard to top 2009. I see 2009 as the pinnacle of MMA. More people are starting to dislike Dana and his ego is getting out of control. To many fighters getting injured and pulling out of fights. Some of these upcoming cards are dissapointing.

Here is an interesting question though I have been arguing with my friends. Is it possible that we would ever see Fedor vs Dan Henderson. Strikeforces biggest name in a superfight. Fedor can fight at 235-240. Henderson has fought at 205 and clearly could bulk up easily. I would pay to watch this. Am I dreaming?

I don't think you are dreaming. I think with the way Strikeforce does business that it's a great possibility.

I have a thread around the first few pages detailing the start of the year for the UFC. It's got 'pretty weak start' in the title.

They can't just ignore the welterweight belt and book a super fight for UFC 111. The UFC doesn't work that way, nor is it fair to the contenders of the division, as far behind GSP as they may seem. They still deserve they're shot at the title.

I also posted about this on my blog a little while back, when Dan Hardy beat Mike Swick. Koscheck was calling out Hardy and naming himself the #1 contender. Basically, neither are worthy of the title shot, but then again noone else is either.

Check it out and let me know what you think:

Checked out your blog. I agree but at some point doesnt the super fight have to happen? Silva might not even agree to it. In your opinion is their anyone at 185 that could drop the weight and compete at 170 who could challenge GSP?

That's a fair question, which might be tricky to answer. I guess the only legit contenders at middleweight to make a drop would be Nate Marquardt, but he already drops a bit of weight to make 185. Plus, why would he want to drop down to fight GSP, when he is close enough to fighting Silva?

I would love to see Demian Maia against GSP, but his striking needs some SERIOUS work. You have to take your opponent down to get to your wolrd class jiu-jitsu, and with GSP that isn't happening.

In the welterweight division, I would like to see Thiago Alves take on GSP again, but he needs at least a fight to show he's back and healthy. Mike Swick should have never taken the Hardy fight, since he is the only top guy to not lose to GSP in the recent past. Dan Hardy hasn't done anything to make himself the #1 Contender in my eyes, besides rack up a few wins.

Hopefully, we get to see a Thiago Alves vs. Jon Fitch rematch, which would lead to a Fitch/GSP or Alves/GSP rematch for the title.

Its a shame Matt Hughes faded so fast. Well maybe in one way but he did defend his several times. GSP done said he wouldnt fight Nate. They train together and he couldnt do damage to a friend. Alves did go 5 with GSP. Sad to say but I guess thats saying something.

Exactly, which is why I could really only name Nate as a viable fighter to make the drop, in terms of skill and status. Clearly, they won't fight each other as teammates, although I could see that a great match-up.

Alves should be back to challenge GSP again in 2010. He is the most skilled fighter, IMO, behind GSP in the division. Fitch is good, but he is the guy who get's the absolute most out of his ability due to his heart. He does nothing exceptionally well and takes a ton of damage.

So you give Florian a re-match even though he was dominated by BJ and has just a one win streak? Clearly you don't know how the UFC works.

Huge Kenny KenFlo fan here, but he needs a couple more wins under his belt over higher talent level competition than Clay Guida. Guida's great to watch and all, but he's just never going to be a contender.

I like GSP vs Hardy. At least it's something different instead of the same rehashed fights is seems like we've seen forever. Give some new people a chance. I love watching GSP fight, no matter who it is.

Exactly. Clay Guida deffinately isn't anywhere close to the top of the 155 pound weight class, and a dominating win over him doesn't say too much.
