They are doing this to limit his innings this year. He'll be on a tight pitch count here in Durham and it will give him the chance to work on his command and change up. They don't want him throwing 200 innings so he'll have to take it easy to start with. Better to have him fresh for the end of the year.

BTW, I agree that Niemann should get the spot (he pitched well today).

... it was a move similar to what they did with Longoria so that they can put off arbititration for a year.

BINGO! They are being cautious with Price and don't want him throwing 200+ innings. They will need him in September and don't want a "dead" arm with a lot of innings. It takes time for a pitcher to build stamina when used to pitching 120-150 innings...

I am happy to live within 20 minutes of Durham to see him (for a month).

Price is signed through the 2012 season, so, no winner.

The winners are the people stating he will be on an innings count.

Joe Maddon has been qouted as saying he owuld rather Price get his innings late in the year (so he will be ready for a playoff push/run, if there is one) instead of burning him out early.

Though, I must admit, they could just go the Joba route. Put him in the pen to begin the year and then let him workhorse after May.

Not very surprised. I hope he stays with Durham until the 20, when the Bulls start a 3 game series with Gwinnett. Hopefully his turn will come up right along with Tommy Hanson's.

I for one can't wait to see Price take on Wieters. Who will win that battle?

If you want to see it in person, you've got a place to crash.

You have to love how the best pitching prospect in baseball and the best hitting prospect in baseball open up the 2009 season against each other in Durham.

We should plan a Saturday, April 11th FCB outing! I know with the drive from Kingsport, TN a Saturday game would work best for me and the wifey.

Be there or be square.
