They should at least get a case of lube to help dull the pain.

Agree 100%. If that's the best they could have done, then you might as well hold on to him til' at least the end of the season. I think the thing that hurt TB was they only recently (within the last day or so) told teams they would be open to trading him. By then teams already had their sights on other pitchers and thus, a bidding war did not commence.Put me in the group of WTF. How could that be all TB got in this trade? Why would you even bother trading him then?
No longer a fan of this team. This was the last straw. The Astros got more in return for Cosart today than the Rays did for Price.
Clearly the M's and Tigers one this one but Franklin and Smyly is not chump change. They got two MLB ready prospects plus whoever that other guy is and saved money because of what they owed Price the rest of this year and next. Not as bad as everyone is making it out to be.

I hate the Rays and even I feel bad for them with this trade. In Franklin, regardless of his potential, they got a guy that Seattle wanted to give up anyways. They have Brad Miller to play short, so Franklin was pretty much ticketed as a trade piece for this entire season. They did Seattle a favor by taking him. Drew Smyly may be a decent pitcher, but not even his own mom gets excited when he starts. It's almost as if TB wants to run off their remaining fans, fold the team, and start over somewhere else.

Going into today I accepted the reality that Price could be gone. I thought maybe the Pirates and thought Glasnow and Bell were coming here. instead I get a long reliever and a guy that can't beat out brad Miller who is hitting like under .200. David price isn't a rental, he could have been traded another time. This is just plain stupid. I keep waiting for another name on this trade. How does renting Jon Lester for two months get you ten times as much as David price for a full year plus. What am I missing? Why do you make this trade? How does Joe maddon keep the Rays from packing it in after this? What was Andrew Friedman thinking? The Rays are my team, that won't change, but I hope the fan base is given some answers. This deal was not necessary. Period.
Smyly and Franklin for Price? That's embarrassing.
I think the Rays held out too long, asked for too much (not really, but the other teams thought so) and then had to take what they could get at the last, panicked, moment.
