Can you extrapolate the factor of the MCG vs. the fact that it's base Topps, has a high collector quotient, and is the only game in town?

Prices mostly rose because of the popularity of the giveaway promotion.

I don't think that 2010 Topps is a limited print run, yet it's going crazy.

The point was made in anothe rpost. With limited product, everything's going sky high for the rippers. Unfortunately, the singles aren't following suit with limited exceptions.

Its the reason every LCS gives that I've been to, I think this is pretty well established. After the promotion went live and the word got out, prices went up, this with base UD still available. How could one prove your hypothesis?

The MCG has to be a factor, with essentially a $25 "rebate" guaranteed per box in hobby, you cannot disregard that factor.

I think if you look at the Jumbos boxes, it makes it more notable. At this time last year 2009 topps jumbos were about $20-$25 more expensive than hobby, and this year, they are $35-$40 plus- that's cause you get ten mcg cards per jumbo box.
