Annnnnnd just delivered....the Archives 1/1s are ones I only buy when cheap / at the price of a normal auto. At 70 this was acceptable at TOP of the price point. At 100, the dozens on ebay can stay there

A couple more Raiders/Vikes. Surprised I actually didn't have either card. I like these set designs. Guessing I lost out on the others I tried for. This time I succeeded.

I picked this up for around $1. Was shocked nobody else bid. I realize he isn't a household name, but it's still a certified card from a popular set. I'll take deals like this all day.

2005 Finest Green Refractor, # 003/199

I miss when Topps actually labeled their refractors corresponding with the color on front. Would definitely help collectors today with the hundreds of color variations and patterns that Topps releases every year.

2005 Donruss Classics Significant Signatures Silver #170 Randy Johnson/1 -- Randy Johnson has 100 or so Yankee single-signed autos from his playing years released between 2005-2007, 95 to be exact. Of the 95 cards, I've excluded 24 from the over-complicated Diamond Kings set and 17 from Sweet Spot due to concerns of fading. I've also excluded the 12 memorabilia auto cards which are cut from his Diamondback uniform as well as unfortunately those 7 from 2005 Ultimate Signature which picture him with Arizona. It leaves about 30 cards from about 10 sets... Absolute Memoribila, LCM, Leather & Lumber, Prime Cuts, SPA, Timeless Treasures, Ultimate Collection, Exquiste Collection, UD Premier and Donruss Classics.

Narrowing it down by design, left me with two sets I really liked Ultimate Collection and Donruss Classics. Between these two sets, there are just a handful of variations with total combined print run of 20 or so signed cards. Unfortunately, these are all stickered autographs. Knowing that, I was happy to land this one.

As a collector, I place a premium on signed cards from the playing years. Perhaps, it is a silly notion in today's hobby given that these guys sign hundreds of copies after retirement. I could have easily gone after an on-card autograph from 2024 Five Star, which also has nice eye appeal for a fraction of the price. As post-retirement cards are released each year in the hundreds, I focus on these "original" releases. Curious, does any one else feel the same way?

I applaud narrowing it down using factors that are important to you. There's way too much out there to chase everything, so it's great to just go after the stuff you like the most.

Regarding placing a premium on cards issued during the player's career - I absolutely do this. I'm also more likely to go after modern cards that have a retro design that is consistent with that player's career. Though something like this where Canseco is wearing '90s sunglasses on a 1988 design bug me a little.

I've been busy with work and other projects for a while so I haven't had a chance to post my pickups since October. I've done a small amount of eBay shopping and got a small shipment from COMC. Well, small for me, it was only a couple hundred cards.

121924-1.jpg

A few Trent Dilfers. 2020 Playoff Honors Recollection Collection RC buyback auto 1/1...much better than most of their buybacks which are recent cards from autographed sets, which doesn't make sense. 2021 Panini Mosaic "No Huddle Prizm Gold" 05/10...there are THIRTY-THREE different non-1/1 versions of this card and this was the last one I needed, hadn't seen one for sale before now. I am missing 2 of the 3 1/1 versions so I guess my rainbow is still incomplete. And a 2001 Pacific Premiere Date 45/45. I had one of these already but when the cool serial number popped up I grabbed it.

121924-2.jpg

I finally have a 1997 Pinnacle Inside Diamond Edition A's card...just don't pay attention that it says "Minnesota Twins" on it. Also a 2003 Leaf Certified Mirror Emerald Fabric Mark Ellis 05/05. I try to pick up 2003 Mirror Emeralds whenever I see one I don't have for an okay price.

121924-3.jpg

Finally found a 2012 Bowman Chrome Draft Gold Refractor Auto Addison Russell for a price I'd pay. This would have been a several hundred dollar card at one time. The Zito is /50 and one I had previously overlooked. Easy to do when it's a weird Just set.

121924-4.jpg

Several 2024 Update parallels and a 2022 Topps Black Sean Murphy.

121924-5.jpg

Bailey is from a seldom-seen 2011 Topps factory set parallel/75. The Brett Anderson is an insert from 2011 Topps Attax that took forever to track down for whatever reason. Also a 2000 Pacific Omega Full Count Jason Giambi serial numbered parallel that didn't even get its own real name, 044/100.

121924-6.jpg

Some more neat inserts/parallels. The Nate Freiman leaves me one shy of completing the 2013 Prizm Orange Die-Cut/60 team set. Not one I meant to go after but I saw I was close so may as well go for it.

121924-7.jpg

Lastly a pile of Refractors.

Sweet update! I was hoping you were still posting your additions.
