Hmm.. interesting. Seems like a decent price for Dejesus. But doesn't Oakland have enough of these type of guys in Of already with Crisp and Rajai Davis?

They do. KC gets the better of this trade in my opinion. Mazzaro is pretty good when he keeps the ball in the strike zone.

This deal makes no sense for the A's, I'm sorry. The upside of Mazzaro(has shown nice flashes) outweighs DeJesus' very average, middle of the road(if that) production. This is a head scratcher for the A's in my opinion.

This is an absolute stupid arse trade by the A's ::facepalm::

Maybe it's time to put Billy Beane in a home?

Beane likes to do this kind of stuff. He figures if they aren't in contention at the break, he can sell high on DeJesus to a contender.
Didn't work with Holiday trade or signing Ben Sheets. My guess it doesn't work again. DeJesus is a nice player but a 4th outfielder to a contender. I can't see him bringing much no matter how desperate the team.

DeJesus played a solid RF for the Royals (1 error in 3 yrs) and hit well. It is his option yr so he'd have some value later on imho.

DeJesus would have been one of the top players available at the deadline last year had he not gotten hurt. Maybe Beane was just sick of having cheap versions of DeJesus in Crisp and Davis, because they only thing they do better is steal bases. He was far and away the best all around Royal of the first half and has good leadership/work ethic. Mazzaro is a 3-4 starter on a bad team at best. Yes he will have some really good outings, but the other numbers don't usually support those starts to keep happening. He also has gotten blown up more than his fair share the last few years. Do remember him having a really good stretch 2 years ago maybe, as one of the best starters in baseball for over a month and then got hurt.

Agreed. I'd take the pitching depth (especially in that park) over a fading hitter who was easily replaceable anyhow.

My opinion on this is that Beane is looking for insurance in the outfield in case Sweeney doesn't come back healthy or Connor Jackson. Also, Coco was injured for most of last year. I think it's a good trade because if DeJesus doesn't pay off, then Beane can trade him or can trade Coco or Rajai. Mazzaro was pretty good but they already have enough starting pitchers - Braden, Anderson, Cahill, Gio Gonzalez, and now this new Japanese pitcher they just signed. They are also trying to work Tyson Ross into a starting pitcher again. They just have a flood of starting pitchers.

I agree with the trade for Oakland.

IF DeJesus keeps up that kinda production and is consistent, which personally I think he can be, he's definitely worth a lower grade starting pitcher. And if not, ship him at the AS break for another prospect or two.

They claimed Edwin Encarnacion off waivers today. Not sure what their plans as are with him but I always liked his potential in Cincinnati but sadly he never put it together and chances are he never will.
