Big day today. It's the last of the 2005 cards. Wow, that was a lot!

2005 Upper Deck Trilogy or Trilo3y or whatever dumb thing they are trying to pull. Six total autos from this set, I have four of them. Generations Signature first. For singles, Wright is in the Generations Present Signature, of which there's a; Silver /99, Bronze /35, and a Gold /10. Missing the Gold below. There are also two Triples from Generations of Signatures Triple. One with Mike Schmidt and Adrian Beltre (see blelow) and the other is with Craig Nettles and Adrian Beltre, which I am missing. Both are numbered /35.



Last one is a Signature Materials Dual (meaning dual jersey and bat....only one auto). It is #'d /75.


Final set with an autograph is 2005 Zenith. Just one Z-Graphs auto, which is numbered /100.

Time to move on to 2005 Ultimate Collection. There are quite a few....but, honestly, after looking at my checklist, I did alright so far.

From Signatures, of which there are two. The base is numbered /69, and for some reason, I never obtained a copy yet. Strange, considering I have the Platinum parallel to /5. Pictured below.

On to the multi signature cards. Dual Signatures, there are three, all pictured below. One with Arimis Ramirez, one with Mike Schmidt, and one with Jose Reyes.....all of which are numbered /25.

There is an Eight Star Signatures, which I haven't found yet. Numbered to /5, it features; Adrian Beltre, Chipped Jones, Eric Chavez, Hank Blalock, Mike Schmidt, Scott Rolen, and Wade Boggs. Might be able to track that one down. I won't, however, be able to track down the Eight Star Signatures Choice 1/1. That fella, if ever found, features Wright with; Derek Jeter, Albert Pujols, Cal Ripken Jr., Don Mattingly, Ken Griffey Jr., Roger Clemens, and Nolan Ryan. So you could see how, even if it surfaces, I probably won't be the winner of that bidding war. I'll certainly try though!

Now the Materials Signatures cards. First, the plain Materials Signatures, base and Patch. Numbered /25 and /10 respectively.

The last of the Materials Signatures cards are all Duals. There are three Dual and three Dual Patch cards. Regular jersey swatch duals /10 and patches /5. Same three players are featured in each. Wright with; Jose Reyes, Arimis Ramirez, and Mike Schmidt. I only have the two pictured below. There are a few out there right now, but the Buy-It-Nows are too high for me.

Thus concludes a fairly decent effort at 2005 Ultimate Collection.

05 Ultimate is one of my favorites ever! You've got a good chunk of it for sure. I'm so glad Wakefield was included in that set, I only wish he had more multiplayer offerings, I really like the look of how they did most of those that year, good luck on chasing the rest!

Oh for sure, definitely one of my favorite UD offerings as well! And thank you! I did good so far, hoping to add to it.

Wakefield had an awesome career. Anyone who can last and produce as long as he did certainly earn a ton of respect. Why wouldn't they include Wakefield?

I think I've mentioned this before, but I'll go over it again, just in case. So, I focus on Wright cards from 2012 and prior only. 2012 was just a cut-off I came up with because things started to get out of control around that time in terms of products. Too much to focus on. After I made that my focus, I began a particular journey into trying to amass ALL of the cards from 2006 and prior, while also picking up stuff from 2007-2012 as well from time to time. So my 2006 cards will be pretty vast as well. However, 2005 had over double the amount of cards 2006's products offer, nearly triple. So 2006 will be much smaller.

In terms of base cards, I think my favorite cards throughout all the years I collected would have to be those from Bowman/Bowman Chrome, Finest, and Topps/Topps Chrome. They were fairly consistent year to year. So, before I get into everything base card related, I will start with those few sets.

2005 Bowman. There is a; base, Gold, Blue /500, White /120, as well as a Red /1. Missing the Red, not surprisingly.


2005 Bowman Chrome. It's kinda fun, because it is the same exact design and photo, just chrome. There is a; base, Refractor, Blue Refractor /150, Gold Refractor /50, Orange Refractor /25, Red Refractor /5, X-Fractor /250, and a Super Fractor /1, which I haven't seen quite yet.

I like the '95s better but this year was decent for refractors. Nice Red!

2006 Finest. So for this release, there were Refractors and X-Fractors of many colors.....also, lots of different serial numbering for each. Besides the base card, the set went something like this;

Refractor /399, Blue Refractor /299, Green Refractor /199, Black Refractor /99, Gold Refractor /49, White Framed Refractor /1. I am fortunate enough to have that whole list.

X-Fractor /250, Blue X-Fractor /150, Green X-Fractor /50, Black X-Fractor /25, Gold X-Fractor /10, White Framed X-Fractor /1. Besides the White Frame 1/1, I am missing the Gold X-Fractor /10. There was one on COMC for ages. It was being held hostage for a while. I watched the price slowly come down from close to $400 to about $190 or so, over YEARS. Someone did buy it eventually, even if over priced. Oh well, hopefully another will pop up.


There is also a Super Fractor /1. I think three 1/1's is a bit much, but it is what it is.

And my Topps related stuff....

2006 Topps. There's the three basic cards (four including the 1/1). Those would be the base, Gold /2006, Black /56, and Platinum /1. Then there are these other two. The first is the NY Mets Team Set card, same exact from as the base card. Wright was also part of the Box Bottoms set as well.


2006 Topps Chrome. There seven card including the 1/1. Base, Refractor, Blue Refractor, Black Refractor /549, Red Refractor /90, and Super Fractor Gold /1.


2006 Topps Opening Day. Yeah yeah, I'm including Opening Day. I was all about the cards having the same designs. Anyway, for this basic set, there is a just a base and a Red Foil /2006.

So, unlike 2005, 2006 doesn't have a ton to offer in terms of cool cards and fun parallels. Like I said before, Wright is featured in a lot less sets (or there were in general a lot less sets of cards made). So, I'm kinda not sure how to go from here. I could bore you with some basic base cards and inserts, or I could just skip that stuff. Well, for now, I'll go with these three sets of three.

2006 Bazooka. Absolutely nothing special here at all, just a base card and two not-hard-to-find parallels. Blue Fortune and Gold Chunks.


2006 Bowman Heritage. Again, nothing of note here. Base, Mini, and Silver Foil. There is also a "white" parallel, but these cards were so poorly designed, it is near impossible to tell the "white" parallel from the base, so I never bothered to even try. If anyone can give me pointers on how to identify a "white" card, please let me know. Otherwise, it's just dumb.


2006 Bowman Originals. Some short printed cards here at least. Base, Blue /249, Black /99. There's a Red 1/1 that I don't have.

2006 Flair Showcase. AT least we have some short printed parallels here Base, Legacy Blue /150, Legacy Emerald /150. Why they had to go ahead and use colors that were barely recognizable as different, with the same serial numbering mind you, is beyond me. Throw in a Fresh Ink printing plate 1/1, even if it is technically from the autograph set, which I'll eventually get to.



2006 Fleer. Base, Glossy Silver, and Glossy Gold. Despite the lack of serial numbering, the Glossy Golds are incredibly hard to find.


2006 Fleer Tradition. Base, Sepia, and Black and White parallels. This was a little tricky to find, even if not very rare. It was hard to tell the differences via online photos and such, and since they pretty much look like base cards, they might not be listed as often. But I did manage to find them. As with the two sets above, there were some inserts that I skipped over. Nothing fancy though.

Oh totally, they are pains for sure. And sure, side by side, it is a bit easier to tell the Blue from the Emerald. I got a pretty good photo, all things considered. The Sepias and Black and Whites were actually more difficult for me to tell apart. I made a mistake or two before getting both. That, or I would forget which card I had already!

And of course, sellers are going to be that way. It's almost a given these days. RARE or ebay 1/1 and the likes.

And speaking of outrageous selling practices.....despite having sold the McGwire collection, I still browse newly listed cards. I can't help myself. Anyway, one of the "fun" trends going around now is treating some common early 90's errors as $1,000+ cards. Like the 1990's Donruss cards with the Inc. and Inc (without a dot). Stuff like that. It's become silly, but also taking up space in my searches, dang them.

Going to trudge through all the SP cards, on my way to something more interesting once I reach Topps.

2006 SP Authentic. The base card is actually short printed, numbered /899. Then there are the Baseball Heroes insert set. These were actually not the easiest things to put together, for whatever reason.



2006 SPx. There's a base card and a SPectrum parallel. It's not rare at all, considering the parallels were issued 1:3 packs. Hard to tell in the photos, but the Spectrum card is foil-y on the left side. There's also an insert, SPxtreme Team.




Sorry for the boring post. I just didn't feel quite right skipping all the way to Topps stuff (next in alphabetical order).

2006 Topps 52. I have the four from this set below. Base, Chrome /1952, Chrome Refractor /552, Chrome Gold Refractor /52.


2006 Topps Allen & Ginter. I got a slow start on these, since I wasn't sure I'd bother collecting them (similar to how, outside of the base card, I have no desire to collect the Topps Co-Signers cards). But I made the late decision to get the Allen and Ginters, so there are still some missing. I have the base, Mini, A&G Backs, and the Black Bordered (the two cards I have photographed with backs facing out are the Mini and A&G Back I have.....only way to tell the difference is to see the backs, otherwise they just look like mini versions of the base card). Those are the easiest. There are also tougher minis I am missing; No Numbered Back /50, Bazooka Back /25, Mini Wood /1, and a Mini-Exclusive short print. Probably a matter of time until I get the non 1/1's, but just don't have them right now. There are also some inserts I didn't bother with.


2006 Topps Heritage. Similar to the Topps 52's, there is a four; a base, Chrome /1957, Chrome Refractor /557 (which I have on the way from COMC right now), and a Chrome Black Refractor /57.

2006 Topps Turkey Red. Have them all here. Base (grey), Red, White, Black, and Gold. Unlike 2005, the Gold this year was not serial numbered. I also have the Cabinet, which is just a jumbo version of the base card. I just didn't want to dig it out today.

I was also going to post these with the Turkey Reds above, but I was a bit confused about the year this set was released. Anyway, below was my original text about them.

2006 Topps Moments and Milestones. I'll start with the following disclaimer. I don't bother collecting these cards. Maybe one day, but I don't have much of a desire to track down all the cards, especially the parallels. But anyway, back in the day, I would grab a Black parallel #'d /29 for a dollar or so on COMC when I could find one. The Red 1/1's I would grab for $20 or so when I found them, but by no means did I chase these.

Ok, so anyway, now I might think these were actually released in 2007. I just looked online, and couldn't find anything about the set being released in 2006. I went and looked at the Moments and Milestone cards I have in my 2007 box. So here is the dilemma, maybe someone here can help with their thoughts. Take a look at the Red 1/1's below....



So the top three I thought were from 2006, while the bottom four I thought were from 2007. Besides the fact that the first two cards in the "2007" row are missing that little "RBI" shield on either side of the number, all the fronts of both rows are identical in design and such. The differences are on the back of the card. Each of the four "2007" cards are identical, each of the three "2006" cards are identical. How each differ is only in the copyright. See below, the differences between top row card commemorating RBI 93 and bottom row card commemorating RBI 39.


Note the top card says it's from 2006, while the bottom card cays 2007. Weird. Also funny how the RBI numbers go. Each of the bottom row's RBI numbers are less than each of the top row's RBI numbers. Ditto when comparing the Black #'d /29 cards I have. I don't know the answer, but I am just going to file all of these in year 2007, since that is when the first Moments and Milestones set was released. Anyone with any thoughts?

I remember reading somewhere when I was researching this set that it was going to originally come out in 2006. I have several cards that are also dated 2006, which was the reason I had looked into it. I don't know if the reasoning is correct or if the person was just guessing, but they said that was the reasoning behind the multiple dates.

2006 Upper Deck. Wright has his own card, as well as a checklist card. The first card is from Series 1, and their set went; base, Gold /299, Silver Spectrum /25. I haven't found that last one yet. The checklist was from series 2, and that set went; base, Gold /299, Silver Spectrum /99 for some reason. I tossed in two of the few inserts Upper Deck had this year. First is the Amazing Greats insert set, where there is a base and a Gold /699. The second is from the Star Attractions insert set. There is a base, a Gold /699, and a Silver /99, which I have never quite seen despite it's print run.

Just learned about a soon-to-be death in the family. I very well may disappear for a little bit, or I may attempt to keep some sense of normalcy. At the moment I am extremely dissociated, so I'm just going to carry on for now.

2006 Upper Deck Epic. Not too much here, although the base cards to this 300 card set are numbered /450, so it is a fairly limited release. The insert, and accompanying plate, are from the Events insert set......insert being numbered /675, plate obviously /1.


2006 Upper Deck Future Stars. Here's an offering from UD that had a pretty fun little rainbow run. Base, Purple /1799, Green /499, Red /299, Blue /99, Black /50, Gold /25. No 1/1 from this set, so that completes the rainbow.


2006 Upper Deck Ovation. Nothing really here either, just another excuse to drop a plate. Just a base, Gold /499 and the plate. Also an insert I didn't bother with to round out the set. Thought the plate looked cool.
