DeMarcus has signed a $78m contract, with $40m guaranteed through 2015. He is now the Cowboys highest paid player ever. He also received a $1 bill with a message from Jerry, which I thought was hilarious.

FOX's Jay Glazer was wrong on Monday when reporting that Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Ware had signed a $78 million deal.

Actually, the contract is worth $78,000,001.

According to Mike Fisher of Blogging The Boys, who interviewed Ware in the wake of the mega-deal, owner Jerry Jones gave Ware a $1 bill with a message written on it: "This is my last offer. Your great. Jerry Jones."

(It's nice to see that even really rich guys get "your" and "you're" screwed up sometimes.)

Ware also said that a "handshake deal" was struck on Sunday, before the Cowboys' 37-21 win over the Falcons. Ware celebrated by getting two sacks.

The real question is, now that Ware has gotten paid, will the sacks keep coming?

No offense to Ware, but we've seen too many guys who get too much money and who end up playing all too different than before they struck it rich. Cowboys fans undoubtedly hope that Ware will be an exception to the "get paid, get soft" approach.

Funny, but gramatically incorrect. Amazing how a man that is worth so much money can't use proper English ::facepalm::

You ARE great...not your great ::facepalm::

Glad he was able to get a new contract before hitting free agency. He's talented, young, and hard worker. Those qualities usually equal big pay days. I believe they resigned Ratliff last year as well.

For a second when I read that I thought that I had read the story wrong and he stepped down.

Your not alone  . I thought he said "resign" as in "to leave" at first too, and wondered what the heck he was talking about. Then I felt stupid for my quick reading error.

BTW, I used the "your not" as a mocking of Jerry. Saying "your" instead of "you're" is a pet peeve of mine. It really pisses me off when people text/email and say "your welcome". The simple things in life....

That's basically quarterback money right there, he deserves it.
Not the way he is playing this year.
The game after he got his contract (vs Falcons) he got 2 sacks. I think that since he's paid now, he'll play alot better. He also had an injury.

4 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 24 tackles to date.

I mean they guy can play football he is a great player. Not worth that much money though. Jerry Jones is the only reason he is getting that much i honestly dont think he would get that much any place else.

I'm surprised Ware's playing this good considering he's probably still feeling the effects from the week one stinger and he has a stress factor in his foot. He'll play better as his body heals.

I'm not so sure. He's a lot better than Haynesworth and younger.

Alot of clubs are going to see an increase in revenue... :D

If there still will be a cap, then hopefully they can use the money from cutting RoyWill to get some OL depth and a stud safety. If there is no cap coming up, then just watch JJ go nuts.
