The way the current All Star selection process is set up, he has more than earned it.

Fans pick their favorites, and that means some players' entire careers will be taken into consideration rather than only the present season. This is what being very good for a long time, playing the game the right way, and being an all-around good guy will do for you.

Even if he may not have earned the starting nod this year, he has earned it over the past 15 years.

The worst omission is Sabathia not on the team and Brandon League is. Ron Washington is an idiot and he also picked half his own team for the game.

Too bad kid. Deal with it.

lol wut?
I guess you would rather pimp Marco Scutaro or Jed Lowrie.

of course they dont deserve it either, they're terrible, but both of them have had better seasons than jeter, further proving my point.

and yea, sabathia getting boned is just as outrageous. why do i let these things bother me so?

League is tied for the lead league in saves and hasn't given up an earned run since May 13th. He had a 4 day stretch in May where he imploded, take away that 4 game stretch and he's given up 3 runs in 30 innings this year. Obviously you can't take away a 4 day stretch when considering all stars, but in his last 17 appearances hes given up 7 hits, 0 ER's and has walked 1 guy. When he has his pitches working, no one is better this year.

Have to agree with frzg. League has been outstanding in taking over closing duties for the injured Aardsma, minus one terrible week.

How are people still consistently surprised by these types of situations? Fan voting = popularity contest, it's still not nearly as bad as the NBA

Washington only picked one Ranger for the team...C.J. Wilson who is very deserving. Blame the players for picking Michael Young.

Its just hard for people to wrap their head around the fact that baseball isn't all about stats.

But yet here we are again, (another) case in point.
