wtf is the nets plan? shouldnt they be holding on to these draft picks?

You'd think...LOL But thats how the Nets do things. HAHAHA
And with the fact that Deron will sign w/ NY after the 2012 season.
He's already mentioned that he wants to join the Knicks once he's a Free agent.

I'm sure part of it is a calculated risk that there will be changes to the CBA (once they renegotiate) that will make it much easier to keep Deron and/or changes that will make it nearly impossible for him to go to New York.

Have they made public the full deal and the picks that were given up? The last report I heard was rather vague on that part and didn't specifically say....as long as it wasn't 3 or 4 picks, I can see why they took the chance on the move.
Part of it also simply may have been looking at the depth of the upcoming draft classes......draft picks are great - if you have them in the right years. You could have had 2-3 1st round picks in last years draft.....but if one of them was not #1, you probably would not have made you're team substantially better.

2 picks, harris, cash and the and no-talent ass-clown Favors

i know what youre saying about picks and all, but the nets arent a point guard away from making the playoffs. the rule changes will have to enable the Russian to buy players a la Steinbrenner and I don't think that will happen.

trade sells tickets... thats about it.

It does kind of reek a bit of desperation.
As a singular move - and hearing Williams hasn't given indication he really wants to be (stay there) than seems they may have been better off simply trying to rebuild.
This trade will probably have to be viewed in hind-sight. If Williams is gone in a year - it's certainly a mess.......if it winds up the first move of many that leads to a competitive team than I'm sure no one will complain about what they gave up.
