Looks like Deron Williams will be playing in Turkey during the lock-out and I imagine others will due something similar. My question is, how many (or what percentage) will not come back afterwards? The world has improved significantly compared to the US when it come so to basketball talent, and some of the leagues are at a very high level, pay really well, and have rabid fan bases. It would not shock me to see a decent number of players stay overseas and IMO if the NBA does not get over this lock-out quick we may be moving toward an era where the league has to compete with leagues overseas for marquee players.

Thoughts?

I think the super stars will come back to the NBA, and a few of the bench players will stay for more money (like what Josh Childress did). This is just like what happend durring the NHL lockout. Also, the EURO game is very different than the NBA game, its a lot slower.

Yea they pay big money... Eventually. My friend from college is in a pretty good league and has had trouble getting his checks and I think Childress said the same thing. Additionally traveling, hotels are much different. Sounds like he just wants to make some cash and keep his game up while on lockout. They will all be back.

If they are stars, they will come back. Bench players or guys about to retire might stay.
