What do you guys think? I have a few D-Rose cards and he's off to a pretty fast start...is this a good time to buy, sell or hold?

If hold...do you think his prices are just peaking and that it could go higher?

Among other D-Rose cards, I have these 3 that I'm wondering what to do with!

very nice rose pickups!

dude's avging 25, 10 right now and he's playing really well. not sure if he can sustain his current #'s but in terms of his prices, it's up and up so if you feel that you can pick these up for cheaper in the future, why not!

im holding my 2x rose cards though. lol.

Thanks Dave!

I may sell my 2 lower end autos (Premier and Threads) and keep these 2 for now. So, at least I can cash in on the current hobby hype he's getting...but it's a tough decision no doubt. It's certainly not like prospecting where I have a general "rule of thumb" on when to sell!

Carlos boozer had his cast removed this week, and should be back I would say in a month give or take a few weeks. Boozer makes the team better, but he also could take some of the scoring away from Rose.

With the Heat, Celtics, Magic, and hawks, I am not sure Chicago is a team that will go deep in the playoffs thus a spike probably will not happen then.

I am not monitoring his prices but if there has been a nice spike I am not sure you will get a better opportunity to sell then right now.

make a profit? then sell.

im wondering if the basketball market really gives a **** about anyone not named Jordan/Lebron

there are SO many young players in the NBA right now, i wonder if they will ever get the cardboard love they deserve.

i was also thinking about this, if its "money" that someone is seeking to make on these youngin's cards,
then exquisite and NT /99's are the ONLY cards to have

oh, bball market is strong, eric, not just the mj's, lebron's, kobe's (panini killed his autos but his upper deck stuff is still $$)

seems like each year, there's that one player that's jumped into that "superstar" category, at least price-wise

top of my head, rondo, howard, durant, rose, tyreke, griffin, wall...spikes on their rc stuff is scary....scarier than baseball and football (although hockey's sick in itself with the cup stuff. lol)

as for "making money" cards, honestly, almost all upper deck stuff (and national treasures) cannot be overlooked such as sp auth, ult collection, hoops hot prospects, ud black, premier, etc.

i think all are money makers if you are in them cheap (duh! lol)

From a non baseball prospector, I'd say you could argue that the basketball rookie market is stronger than the baseball rookie market. When you really think about it, baseball players really only have 1-2 true rookies + parallels in Bowman/Chrome. In basketball they are in every product. How many of those rookie autos in baseball consistently sell for around $30 for the base auto? Just last year there is Griffin, Jennings, Evans, and Curry that all sell for around $30 in almost every product. So with even more to choose from than baseball, they still hold up really well.

I'd also say that in baseball there are bigger gains because the overall market is stronger so when a guy makes it he sees a bigger jump in value.

i'd recommend holding the SPA for the future. You could sell the HP and Ultimate if you can make a profit on it.

I sold.

He isn't winning any championships anytime soon.

Most youngin's are going to get into trouble eventually, anyways.

Hold. Rose was undervalued all of last year and this summer. He is going to be really really good.

I'd hold or maybe sell a few things if I had a bunch of Rose cards.

sucks for those of us RC collectors that dont care about Autos or GU cards
I miss it, too. :(
The majority of cards in my Falcons and Hawks collections are chrome RCs.

Yikes!

UD Black got $200
Hot Prospects (1 color) got $130
Ultimate got like $135

One could have bought the last 2 for under $100 each easily a few months ago.

Damn his cards are hot!

Offered this one at the start of the season for $75 and no one bit. Glad they didn't. Have one at $104+ with 3 days to go. This time it worked in my favor. There are only 88 total of these.
