^ Do they only have a 4 man rotation this season?
I have no idea haha.

Kerhsaw, Billingsley, Kuroda (or is he hurt?) and padilla?
Yea, their depth chart on their website shows a 4 man....

He will never win a Cy Young if he continuously lacks run support every friggen game he pitches!!! :x

That's just an excuse for losers. Lincecum doesn't need run support to win a Cy Young, oh sorry, 2 Cy Youngs. I guess Kershaw just isn't as good and needs the run support.

Ahh, lets compare.

Clayton Kershaw was 21 at the end of last year, when he finished with a 2.79 ERA and 1.22 WHIP, and 185 K/171 innings.

Tim Lincecum, when he was 21, was pitching at the University of Washington. Tim Lincecum won his 1st Cy Young when he was 24 years old, just to put that in perspective.

Both are electric pitchers, and I think both will win Cy Youngs in the future. I don't think it's right to expect a 21 year old to win a Cy Young, let's be honest.

I don't expect a 21 year old to win a Cy Young but claiming Cershaw didn't win a Cy Young because of run support is asinine. Timmy won 2 with worse run support so that argument is moot, weak, and pointless.
Since age is so important to you I'll bet you that you can pick any age and Lincecum will have more Cy Young's at that given age than Kershaw.

While I 100% agree and admire your Lincecum support, lets just end this hahaha. Lincecum is awesome and has 2 CY in his first 2 full seasons yay.
We really shouldn't be comparing Lincecum and Kershaw really.

For the record, Tim didn't have worse run support in either CY season than Kershaw had in 09.
Kershaw had an average of 4.02 runs of support in starts. Lincecum averaged 4.57 in 2008 AND 2009. Quite the gap actually. 8 of Kersh's 31 starts Dodgers scored 0 or 1 runs. Only 5 of Lincecum's 32 were 0 or 1.

Clayton finished the regular season with 27 consecutive starts without giving up more than 4 earned runs! (well 26 starts one extended relief appearance). Clayton led the Majors with a .200 BAA and 6.1 H/9 as well as slg% against. 119 hits in 171 innings, wow. Looks like Lincecum and Kershaw are a good comparison as the numbers say they were the most unhittable pitchers in baseball last season.
I bet that "weak" Dodger rotation finishes with a better Team ERA than the Gnats. It won't be a 5 man rotation either, guessing Stults starts the year as the 5th. Monasterios (1st pick of rule 5 draft) has domintaed all Spring. I'd like him to get a shot, don't know that he has the stamina to start for a whole season. McDonald has disappointed and probably lost his shot, Haeger has been solid enough. Like what I've seen from Withrow and Lindblom.

Same, i'd love to take that bet as well. Want to make it all pitching with bull pen?

I'll take that bet. Here's my ante and I expect the same card from Lincecum in return. (Note: this is not the card I received as a gift from some very generous board members. I happen to have 2 of these)

Overall team era wins the bet.

Which one of you wants it?

120-140

I'd say the Kersh is 300ish so you'd have to either get a graded Lincy base(assuming it was same value) or a different color Lincy that goes for 300ish. Find it and we're on if you like.

300 is too rich for my blood. I'm definitely willing to take a bet but I don't have 300 I'm willing to lose.

I'll take that bet. I don't have any Lincecum cards but I'm willing to put up the monetary value of that card in exchange. It's up to you? Name the actual value of that card and that's how much money I'll put down. Just in case your skeptical of me I'm willing to put the money up now in a trusted 3rd party paypal account or send someone a certified check. Let me know.

Not looking for money(on this one  )...I figure put the two guys this thread is about up against each other and winner takes all. Money makes it boring in a way. When the Dodgers win I get a card I'd never in a million years buy for myself....that's what makes it fun.

I like that because I would never buy a Kershaw card as you would neverbuy a Timmy card. I like the way you think.
How about this. I've bought a few boxes of 07 recently that I haven't opened yet. If I pull a Timmy that's of equal value I'll put it up. Is there a time line on this bet? Let me know when the latest you're willing to make this bet and if I can make it happen with a Timmy card I will.

I think it's fair that once the season starts the bet starts as well. If either team pitches terribly or lights out then it would make it unfair to start mid season. If you can get something before the start then great and if not we can rib each other mercilessly throughout the season and make it a gentlemen's wager. Bragging rights always do real well in this rivalry so either way it'll be fun. :D

Thanks and let me know!

I'm game. If I can't come up with anything before the start of the season then it's a gentleman's bet between a lifelong Dodgers fan and a lifelong Giants fan. I'll post up whatever I get between now and then.
