Panthers just drafted Jimmy Clausen.

Do they now have a QB competition heading into training camp? or is Moore still the starter with Clausen sitting for a year to learn the system completely.

Moore's stock hit a serious wall.

Thats what I figured when I saw the pick. I really like Clausen and think this is a perfect fit. Great running game.... hell of a defense and a WR who can get open.

Luckily I only have 2 Moore Contenders autos.... but hopefully they will be gone soon. I only have $45 into them... so hopefully I can move them soon.

Long term yes, but I think Matt Moore is a good bet to be the QB all year. He will put up some nice numbers. Claussen is not ready to play yet. There is no need to rush him. Bradford must play. Also I think Colt is in a perfect place.

For a team that lost it's only star in Julius Peppers, the fans will want to see Clausen as early as possible. Clausen will generate far more interest than Matt Moore.

And who knows, we don't know exactly how Clausen will come into camp. If he comes into camp thinking he has a ton to prove and wants to win the starting job...I think he will. He has the raw talent, so if he comes in with a good head...it will be his job. He could be the steal of the draft if his talent can be maxed in that system.

Did DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart, and Steve Smith leave?

Panthers need a QB who can stretch the field to Smith and not turn the ball over. They have two 1,000 yard RBs sitting there so not turning the ball over is the main quality they need.

I was speaking more in national "star" terms and I don't consider any of those as national guys. Clausen at QB will drawers viewers...those that hate and those that are fans. Polarizing guys typically turn into national stars.

Fans want players not viewers. The Panthers have a very good supportive fanbase in the Carolinas and they seem to really like Moore especially with how well he played at the end of the season. They have no clue why they took Armanti Edwards though.

I think the Panthers took Clausen in the Second because He was still there. Moore was lights out at the end of the Season and I have a feeling unless an injury occurs, He'll be the Starter for quite some time.

The problem with Clausen is he's a Notre Dame QB that isn't name Joe. Look how well Rick Mirer and Brady Quinn did. ND QBs are like Penn St RBs: big risks with little or no reward. I haven't mention Jarious Jackson, Kent Graham, Carlyle Holiday, and Rob Powlus yet.

With the running game that the Panthers have, I can't see Clausen starting right out of camp. He is just too prone to making bad decisions throwing the ball for the Panthers to start him immediately.
