I ran some numbers today on what the difference is in selling cards via eBay, via PP off eBay (w/ fees) and via PP w/ Gift. I found what most people already know, but the numbers are a little staggering.

I only did this on items up to $30, and this is assuming that you listed the item via BIN/BO with a $2.50 S&H charge and a $1.41 actual S&H cost. The percentage of fees is beside the description below.

$5 item:
Through eBay: 38.40%
PP w/ Fees: 25.73%
PP Gift: 18.80%

$10 item:
Through eBay: 28.96%
PP w/ Fees: 16.56%
PP Gift: 11.28%

$15 item:
Through eBay: 24.97%
PP w/ Fees: 12.69%
PP Gift: 8.06%

$20 item:
Through eBay: 22.71%
PP w/ Fees: 10.49%
PP Gift: 6.27%

$25 item:
Through eBay: 21.31%
PP w/ fees: 9.13%
PP Gift: 5.13%

Thanks, this makes me wonder if the protection ebay offers is worth it considering the protection PayPal alone provides?

Ebay offers zero protection, besides the fact that they own Paypal. They are now trying to handle the claims, but the financial protection is thru Paypal alone. It's only worth selling on Ebay if you cant sell something off Ebay...
