They may have the best rotation but Burnett is not someone you can count on to go out there every night and give you a solid game. He has been inconsistence for his whole carrer and that explains his ERA last year compared to his Wins. A 4+ ERA and 18 wins shows you go out there one game and dominate then go out there and suck the next night. **** has just come off a injury where he took along time off so it is hard to see him pitching his best right from the get go. Sabathia last year did horrible in the American League and needed the transfer to the National League to do good, and he needs to pitch better in the Post Season to be earning all that money. Chamberlain I think is better suited for the Bullpen. Hughes and Kennedy have not proven anything but a 5th Starter at best. As you have seen many times money does not win you a championship.

If injuries were not a concern itd be the Cubs. Its likely the Rays or Yankees. Have to give it to the Yankees as of now. **** was considered an ace in his own right.

I don't know how you can be considered an ace when you've:

1. Only pitched 200 innings once in your career
2. Never posted a sub 3.50 ERA season

He's a solid #2 but nowhere near ace level.

I had this discussion a while ago on here and took some criticism for saying **** was a #2. Glad to see someone else looks at it the way I do.

Where are the "three proven Aces"

Sabathia, Yes, ****, absolutely, but Burnett is no ace

The Yankees rotation for 2009 will be:

Sabathia - **** - Burnett - Chamberlain - Pettitte/Hughes

The Yankees have already said they don’t plan on getting Lowe or Sheets now. If they did..that would be insane. Can anyone possibly argue that it’s not the best as of now? You have 3 proven aces, one potential ace, and Andy or Phil as the #5? That sounds pretty damn good to me.

Chicago Cubs: Zambrano, Harden, Dempster, Lilly, ?

Tampa Rays: Kazmir, Shields, Garza, Sonnanstine, Price

Red Sox: Beckett, Lester, Matsuzaka, Wakefield, Buchholz

Are those better? I don’t think so. I know some will just instantly say no because they just have blind Yankee hatred. I honestly believe they have the best in baseball. If not, show me one thats better.

from rotoworld.com:

Carl Pavano (from the Toronto Sun)

Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi said nothing was going on with free agent Carl Pavano, whose agent he met with at the winter meetings.

He didn’t expect anything to happen on that front until much later, if at all. The Red Sox and Marlins are also supposed to be interested in Pavano.

best rotation?? umm..NO.

lets try to have those pitchers stay healthy 1st..then talk about best rotation.

Now why did you have to go and bring reality into the thread.

Its the Yankees.... they have the best catcher ever - Posada... best OFer back when Bernie played... and currently the greatest Captain to rome this great planet in Jeter!!

How much better than Mussina's 08 can CC's 09 be?
Burnett basically replaces Pettite.
The hopes of the Yankees are all based on ****. There are many worse pitchers that you could base a season on, but to say the Yankees are a lock for 105-110 wins (which I've been hearing elsewhere) is nuts.

If the Cubs had been able to pick up Peavy, they would be the best rotation IMO, but since they didn't the Yankees have the best.
