Do u guys consider eBay bucks a credit towards next purchase or lower price on current purchase

Let me clear this up. Let's say u buy a $50 card and get 5 bucks back. Do you consider that card an investment of 45 or do u just consider the 5 bucks a credit towards your next purchase?

The difference between $45 or $50 isn't that big a deal to me in most cases, but I keep it in mind. But when they do the specials, especially the 5x, it's much more of an impetus to buy. I've been looking at something listed at $480. Getting $9.60 back doesn't really entice me to buy. But getting $48 back makes me want to pull the trigger a lot more, even though it's the same cost out of pocket today. If I was never going to buy anything on ebay again I'd be bummed about not getting it as a % off the price directly, but I'm pretty sure I will buy more stuff.

I don't really pay attention to eBay bucks as far as a credit or not. IMO, I buy what I want whether I'm getting eBay bucks back or not. The fact that the increased multipliers happen at odd times kinda makes them useless to me. They are never on the weekend or near payday(when I tend to actually pay). So they don't really factor in for me. I'm not watching any item and waiting for a big time eBay bucks multiplier.

I view it as a discount from the card I'll eventually buy. I have a few cards on my watch list that I'm not ready to pay the full amount for because of various reasons.
When ebay bucks comes around, depending on the amount I'll purchase one of the cards because my "free" money gets it to a level I'm comfortable with paying out of pocket.

I lie to myself and count it towards both purchases. For instance, if I were to get a 10% ebay bucks deal then I feel like I really need to take advantage of the deal and buy something big ($1000+) so I can reach the maximum free money figure of $100. Since spending $1000 on a picture of a man is weird I tell myself it's not as weird if I only spend $900 (the $1000 price tag minus the $100 ebay bucks deal I'm about to get credit for). Then when ebay sends my bucks certificate to me I ACTUALLY do get a discount on my next purchase(s). I know I'm wrong for this but it helps my collection.

Great reponses. Problem with these promotions is I don't buy lots of cards at 50 or higher! I feel the need to buy even tho I might not love the card

I don't think I've ever gone full measure and kept a spreadsheet of what I had in cards and what I sold them at. That would make it seem too much like work.

I honestly don't pay much attention to them, if a promo is available I'll activate it but I don't really buy something I wouldn't have because of them. Same thing when spending them. I try and just use them as if it's regular money. So it feels the same as spending my own money even though technically I'm not. If I didn't do this I might get pissed because I always eel to get a great offer after a big purchase, never just before.

Well I don't buy hundreds so it's easy to keep track of prices

It's a nice little kickback if you spend a ton in the first place. to add to what I said earlier it's not something I look forward to or set out to gain a certain amount. What I buy afterwords depends on the amount I recieve. I've only ever had one of those 5x ebay bucks deals sent to me so not a factor in anything I buy
