Do you say Mister if you meet a player?

I hear some fans at games call players by first name but at minor league games I see people say Mr. so and so can you sign this? So what do you do? It seems weird saying Mr. to a player 20 years younger. I ask because I am going to a minor league game in 2 weeks and may try to get some sigs. Opinions? It's been awhile.

I say Mister to all of the players, even the ones that Im older than. It's a reflex action for me though, even more so when my son is with me. When I met Jeff Bagwell a few years ago and got an autograph for my son I said "Thank you Mr. Bagwell."

In general in society I agree 100%. At a ballpark, with public figures playing a kid's game.....I don't think it is disrespectful at all

I would assume if they dont have their names on the jersey and you dont know their names, then calling them by their jersey number seems appropriate.

I would say Mister to any retired player or older than me. Once I've met them I would use their name. When I met Rickey, I used his name because it was a casual setting.

Always say Mr, especially to someone I am asking to do something for me, like sign something. I feel it is much more respectful and they appreciate it. I was taught growing up than anyone you don't know personally you call them "Mr" or "Mrs". I've had several people tell me to "just call them ____," but I'd rather have them say that and appreciate it than feel that I am rude. Just my personal opinion but it's what I have always done.

It really depends, if you are one on one with them in an amiable environment, I'm all for respect and Mr. And all that. But when you are trying to quickly get a guys attention as he comes into the dugout to sign for you, first names are usually the quickest, easiest, attention getting way to get them to come over. I've never had any guy complain about getting called his first name...of course, pleases and thank you's when you get the autograph help too

Hank Aaron, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, Willie Mays I can see me blurting out sir. An active player half my age, tough to call. I like Enfuegos "young man" approach.

I would call any HOF player Mister, but if it's a younger player, I'll just shot out their first name. I got Brandon Crawford to come over and sign my ball when I did that.

Never actually met any, but when writing to players for TTM I always call them mister. Even though it's kinda awkward for most current players as a lot are younger than me but not as awkward as using their first name I guess.

If they are older than me I will give them the Mister, younger than me they get their first name.
