Theres a show tomorrow, and ive been excited for it all week!

I was just wondering if anyone else still gets really excited the days leading up to a show or if you are calm...

for me, I've never lost that excitement of going!

I was sooooo excited all week for the Chicago Sun Times show today. I have been acting like a giddy little kid. I couldn't sleep last night because I was so pumped....

and BAM, it SUCKED. The worst Sun Times show I have been to, at least for the stuff that I buy and deal in.

I dont get excited to go anymore, but I get excited when I find something I really want and I end up working a deal for it.

I do but then i get there and remember how crappy and overpriced they are.

Not this guy (pointing to myself) - Best prices at the WP show this weekend, I was only able to set up for an hour tonight after work and sold $400 worth of stuff because I'm easy to work with. If anyone is going, make sure to come find me and Josh (trademhigh) tomorrow or Sunday.

For me, TOTALLY 100 PERCENT LOVE THEM.

But I can see how some dont feel the same way. Depends on what you collect.

If you only prospect and live and die soley by ebay prices (in other words, wont pay $1 more than what it goes for on ebay), you might think everyone is overpriced.

If you only collect a certain player, especialy out of town, and dont find much there, it wont be a good show for you.

BUT, if you are like me and simply LOVE (I spell it with all caps) digging through dime, quarter, $1, cheap GU, etc. boxes, card shows are a MUST.

If I ever kept track of all the insane/great deals I have gotten through the years of doing this, the spread sheet would be a million pages. Just a few weeks ago, I bought 2001 Topps Heritage Chrome cards of Piazza, Gwynn and Ankiel from a discount box for $2.10 TOTAL.
Sold all three and got $92.

Oh **** yeah dude. But, once I'm there, I realize why the hell did I come here? 99% of the stuff I don't want, and 100% of the stuff (including those cards I don't want) are overpriced. The best thing to do at a show is setup and sell stuff because you can be high on all your cards, but you'll be significantly lower than the delusional dealers who ask $80 for a $20 card. I've seen the same cards in peoples cases since I started going to this one show in 2007.

I enjoy them, but the shows here in Raleigh can be really hit or miss...with a lot of miss.

There are typically two regular dealers that I scavenge.

I know what you mean. But even if there's a 1% chance of buying something decent for the PC, sometimes I feel like I should go just to show 'support for the hobby', and sometimes talk to whomever is there.

And like someone else said above, the $1/$5 bins are fun to go through.

I have low expectations going in, because there are usually as many dealers as I have fingers on one hand (no, I'm not Antonio Alfonseca ... ).

But as a couple of other posters posted, I do get pumped if I see something that I consider a deal or something I could use for my PC or someone else's PC.

I LOVE SHOWS!!!!!!

I can't wait to go to any show because I ALWAYS find stuff to buy.

I will spend hours going through boxes.

I have a show I'm going to on Sunday and can't wait!

The bolded is my biggest problem.

I was going to go back tomorrow with the specific purpose of going through all the 5,000ct monster boxes, but I just
can't bring myself to do it. The biggest problem, at least at the Sun-Times show, is that nobody organizes their ****.

The best you can hope for is organized by sport, but most guys, it's just by price. So you have a $5, $3, and $1 box,
but it's all 4 sports thrown together in the same box, and I just don't have the patience to go through them all just to
hopefully find 8-10 cards after several hours of searching.

And the bolded is what I find fun and how I learn about the many versions of cards.

and I don't usually go through boxes that high. 25 cent/50 cent/$1 usually.

My biggest pet peeve is not having things priced. I have one guy that just puts everything in a box without a price and then says "oh, they are all different prices. To be fair, he is usually giving good deals, but if I don't know what I'm paying for something when I'm looking at it, I don't want to mess with it.

I'd go to one every weekend, but, they only show up about twice a year, if I'm lucky ...

Im really looking forward to the Sun Times show tomorrow. I know its mostly vintage, but at least I'll save $ on supplies at the VERY least. :)

Skrip - why'd it suck so much?
