Yes, I think it is a good reference to combine with Ebay. I also use it to help in some bidding.

I use it mostly when I'm trading with someone who goes strictly by book value. Helps me to know the value is not being over inflated.

We have fully entered the ebay age, and I think a beckett price guide would be almost useless when trying to amount the value of a collection. I've seen cards with BV's of 100 go for 10 bucks, and cards with BV's of 50 go for 150. Its kind of a lost cause, especially when its people as out of touch with the hobby as Beckett. Just My Opinion

Most people want sell value, and those that want book value only do so because its more then their sell value

However, it is a nice reference on ocassion when trying to find a certain insert set. I'd still save my money though

i get the magazine, and would like it just fine if they omitted the guide pages

Dude...it would only be like 4 pages long if they did that!

I don't and never will.Seems they never update any of the old stuff unless it gets hot so a beckett from a year ao is just as good as the current for about 95% of the cards it lists.I usually buy one every 3-6 months.Whenever I get the feeling that I need a new one.

I remember once thinking I would pay for a month cuz I was selling a lot and they said they would keep charging card every month until I tell them not to.

I was like "forget this!!"

I do the same thing. Most of what I like falls in that 2003-2007 time frame, specifically 2005, so there is no real need to have a "hot-off-the-presses" copy all the time. Hell, I'm still using the quarterly from earlier this spring.

I also find it useful if I'm thinking about busting a product I've opened before. The price guide gives me a good idea of the potential hits or lack-there-of.

For "violating their trade rules" by posting a thread saying I was looking to trade, I was banned for a few days. This meant I couldn't have access to the price guide I paid for.

Then after I came back, I followed their stupid rules, and make a thread with some pictures, and referenced that it was all in my trade manager. I got a PM saying I was already warned about doing that (even though I made sure it followed their guidelines). I had a little argument with a mod and was banned permanently, which means I lost whatever remaining days of OPG I had.

Well they thought it would be a good idea a week later to charge my card that they kept on file despite me emailing them and telling them to remove, for another month of OPG that there would be no way for me to even use.

A case of Scope and Listerine would not wash the bad taste out of my mouth from that.

I think there are better, less expensive ways of gauging prices in the hobby.

Unless you trade using BV, then I can see it being a bit more valuable.

Why would I pay for inaccurate prices? I can get that without paying!

Every year I get one Baseball Plus, mostly 'cuz my Dad is sitting on some 90s inserts, and I like to check the odds and print runs on them.

And this year my buddy gave it to me for free anyway! I do like their Blog alot though and the guys running it.
