Discuss. When us baseball collectors are shelling $50 for a Gordon Beckham auto, $90 for a Justin Upton auto and $150 for a Ryan Braun auto.........football collectors are paying:
$20 for Brandon Jacobs, $30 for Desean Jackson, $60 for Reggie Bush.

I already know the main argument against it though - football has more choices, right?

Prospectors drive the values of baseball with hype and have a few years to make money on cards. Football pretty much is they're playing and if they fail well they fail and prices wont ever be close because of that.

In my experience football is more of a high-end collectors sport.

Exquisite, National Treasures, SPA patch autos.

topps chrome rules in football, even with sticker autos. Bowman Chrome also comes out laste in the season
when collectors are looking forward to heavies like contenders and SPA.

The difference is that football players are going to make an impact right away, and therefore the "prospecting" isn't really there, at least compared to baseball when you can prospect a guy 5 years before he steps foot in a major league park

Partially true. Sometimes it isn't always the case especially with QBs.

There is certainly some prospecting potential in the NFL, don't get me wrong. But the guys are so much more hyped going into the NFL overall than guys in the MLB draft. Nearly every sports fan follows NCAA football and/or the NFL draft, but nearly no sports fans follow NCAA baseball and/or the MLB draft. Therefore, if you do follow them, and can take advantage, you can get in on guys before the general public knows. In the NFL, the first two rounds are usually full of guys the general public already knows because they have been plastered on ESPN all CFB season long

+1 prospecting = profiting on potential.

There were over 40 different FB products issued last year and nearly every one of them had autos of the top draft picks. And I dont mean just one type of auto, Im talking multiple insert autos plus the rookie card auto.

Im not actually going to count how many diferent Sanchez autos were made but its probably safe to say that there were 150 totally different types of Sanchez auto cards produced, not counting parallels.

Knowing that, its pretty amazing to think that with all those autos made, they still go for a lot.

Remember in 2007 and 2008 with Lincy and Longo how watered down their autos became? Imagine how cheap some would be if they had 150 different auto rookie year cards.

Bowman Chrome football would do great if it was put out around the time of preseason. Where you could do some type of prospecting or even a month before that in july. It comes out way to late in the year when ppl are saving money for SPA, Exquisite, Ultimate. If he battled with other early rookie auto's it could be a good RC Auto to get. the other problem is that there are to many football products to many auto's an no real prospecting that you can do because baseball has years you can prospect a guy for in football you have only months really.

It would only work if they put out cards of the Football players while they were still in NCAA. That way then true prospecting could occur and the player would only have the one true autoed first card.

Like Bowman Chrome in Baseball, would it be as popular if every set had autographed rookie cards of all the top draft picks in the same year? Like imagine if sets like Sp authentic, spx, Exquisite, National Treasures, limited, Absolute etc. all had autoed rookie cards of the top draft picks in the same year as chrome. I highly doubt chrome would be as big as it is today if that would be allowed to happen.

I am a baseball prospector an huge football fan. I actually love football an collect very little of it. I collect my main player Chad Henne but i wouldnt even buy a bowman chrome auto rookie of his. Also i prospect a little in football an bought up some cheap Exquisite, National Treasures, and SPA of Matt Flynn. Now i just need to hope for A Rodgers to get injured an my cards will skyrocket in value.

I have nearly an entire set of 2007 Bowman Chrome Football Autos, which include Adrian Peterson, JaMarcus Russell, Troy Smith, Anthony Gonzalez, Kevin Kolb, Dwayne Bowe, Sidney Rice, Patrick Willis, London Fletcher, and Marshawn Lynch. 52 of the 54 in the set and have had it at a BIN of $500 on eBay for a while.

I am not sure about Topps Chrome, but Bowman Chrome has different tiers for their autos. A, B, C, D, E, F, and J. The A and B's are typically seeded 1 per case, while the others are far more common. Even with the rarity in the base autos, there isn't much demand.

Baseball Bowman w/chrome, Bowman Chrome, and Bowman Draft Picks all have the same print run for every player with a prospect or rookie auto.
