Another member traded a card in his sig, and i thought i would ask the board...

would you trade from your own PC? What would it take for you to do so? Or is your collection too important to let a card go in the chances that you may never get it again?

i generally would not trade from my own pc, but earlier this year i helped someone get one closer to finishing their bagwell base 98 tek, and i got two cards in return. Not a big deal for me cuz im still under half for his 98 tek cards. But at this point there is no way i could let another card leave my pc.

how about you guys?

I have on just 2 or 3 occasions and each time it was only because doing so benefited my collection much more than the single item did. I wouldn't trade something irreplaceable though.

I traded the superfractor in my sig to a fellow Moose collector, so he could complete his rainbow. Got this in return.

I traded an absolute 3 piece auto /10 out of my PC to another Canseco collector for the 04 EX Checkmates dual auto booklet of Canseco/Henderson. Never replaced the absolute card even though I've had 2 chances but I actually like the dual auto card much better anyway

The only JJ I didn't have a dupe of I sold, went to a fellow members completion of a set (last card needed). There was a deal in place that if the card was ever spotted again, said member would get it for me. He did. Just shows was a stand up, A+ individual he is.

Otherwise, I've sold very few doubles even. No trades for JJ's, since very few folks want JJ in return, they just want arms, legs, livers & rectums.

I also traded the red refractor in my avatar, to help a different, fellow Moose collector finish that rainbow. That's two 1/1's I've traded from my PC to help fellow collectors of the same player.

I have numerous times. Regret a few but overall I'll trade something from my pc if I deem what I'm getting back a larger or harder to find pc acquisition

I sold one because I was made an offer I couldn't refuse and the card was being placed in a collection that was then going to be displayed at Miller Park. Even if the last part wasn't true, they guy was a BIG-TIME Brewers Topps Triple Threads collector and I doubt he'll ever move it (and I know he'll never get back what he paid).

But unless I have doubles, I see no point in trading what I'm trying to collect.

I would have no qualms about trading from my PC, but only if my PC would benefit as a result. I also wouldn't trade anything irreplaceable (such as 1/1s), unless I would receive something equally unobtainable in return.

I've personally traded /sold from my PC on numerous occasions -it's either been bc I had dupes or I got an upgraded version (PSA 9 card to a PSA 10) or just a sharper (raw) card

If it helps the PC overall I'd do it

I don't even consider "doubles" as part of my PC....weird.
I did trade away a couPle of Tek base cards, just like the OP, but I Would consider anything else off limits.

I'd guess the more narrow your collecting focus, the harder it would be. I'd also say that the Belle deal would have been tough (for me if I collected him as seriously as you do), but to get a 1/1 like that from a time when they (1/1) meant something is worth it.

I have traded like for like (exchanging serial numbered copies), but that was it for my player collection. I did sell a couple Frank Thomas cards when I was hurting for money and still collected him pretty seriously and have regretted it ever since, but not so much that I'd pay what I got originally to get them back. I got such a good deal on the entire set that selling the singles for as much as a did helped the sting of doing it.
