I do that every now and then just to gauge an items value.

All the time. I even buy them sometimes to improve the value of my collection.

I do it with the hopes that after a few 30 day listings, the price will drop...

I watch BINs to either see how/if they sell (i.e., gauge value) or if it's similar to another listing I'm planning on bidding on so if I lose and the values are close, I can have a quick BIN to pick up the card anyway.

I do, just to give the seller false hope that someone is actually interested in their auction.

Yes, it doesn't cost anything to watch BIN auctions, and it's a great thing to always have items on your watch board so that you can quickly access your ebay auction category rather than use the general ebay search. Also, it helps to set a reference for active auctions.

Plus it's always fun to have an image of your dream card on your ebay board!

+1
+2 - At least 10 BINs on my watchlist at all times.

+3

I also do it if I know a card is going to be in a store forever and I don't have to go look it up each time. Kind of like a wish/to-buy list.

Wait a minute...nobody said they had them all saved on their watch list in case they all of a sudden win the lottery.I could see this happening to me and then all of a sudden I win and I go on a buying spree just to find out that my money won't be here for a few months.Good luck trying to convince the sellers you won the lotto and are just waiting on the money to arrive! ::facepalm::

i agree with the wishlist answer but to gauge value? thats what auction listings are for. if the BIN was a deal/steal wouldnt you buy it yourself? so then why watch it if you have no intention of buying? i have usually have at least 10 BIN with no intention of buying but even i dont even know why i do it.

I cant say that I do. I search for the same 10 or so things every day at work, so I dont keep things on my watching list unless I plan on buying.
