Does a big hit ever get you buying more of that player?

Back in 06 I got an BC orange Chris Davis--might even have been from retail. Anyway, I started following him and eventually picked up a few more of his, blues, Xs, ref's, etc. Sold a few so it worked out well.

Fast forward to 2010 and I got a decent hit from BC. I don't follow college, USA baseball, etc., so I have no idea who most of these guys are. Suddenly, I want to look up more of my hit guy and might go after some, a mini rainbow perhaps.

Ever happen to you? You humm your rip-and-sell, rip-and-sell mantra, then you get a gold/orange/red and it makes you want to buy that guy instead of sell?

That happened to me and unfortunately it ended up costing me quite a bit of money ::facepalm::

Here is the card I pulled at a card show in St. Louis and I looked him up and decided to buy him up. At the time his stuff was pretty high.

I then went on to acquire the following cards... The orange ref 9.5 was raw and I traded for it in Boston at the Shriners show and it cost me about $400 in trade. I had the choice of a Travis Snider red ref 2006 bcdp or the Antonelli orange so I ended up going with the Antonelli because the Snider had a little white on a back corner and then picked up tons more Antonelli's. I did move several of them this spring when he was hitting really good. I did lose quite a bit of money but I didn't do as bad as I thought I would. Here is some of the hauls that I picked up lol...

A lot of times, reading the information from the back of a card has led me to look into the player further, which has resulted in me buying more of the player.

A black refractor auto of Nate Schierholtz in 2005 Topps Chrome got me collecting him for no reason right when i got back into collecting.

When I pulled a 1/1 bat barrel auto out of 2009 Sweet Spot of BJ Upton I definitely became more interested in him. I don't really collect much other than junk wax and relics, though, so I haven't spent a ton more on him (but I'm quick to grab nice relics that pop up!)
