as in, never selling them? not "i collect, unless the prices skyrocket," but just collect and never sell? just curious.

I'd probably put myself in that boat.

I enjoy collecting prospects, but I'm sure in time I will sell some things.

Until I decided recently to get out for personal reasons, I collected without any real intent of ever getting rid of a large majority of my prospect stuff..I think everyone has a price point though that they would get rid of a card even if its something that they didnt originally intend to sell.

I buy to collect mainly. Sometimes I will sell some off when I realize that my horde is a bit too much.

prospecting is a form all by itself.

buying a few guys rookies here and there is different than prospecting.

Being able to differentiate that is important

I collect a lot of cards of Red Sox rookies and Cape League alumn's, those happen to fall in the same category as prospecting. I have bought some others to prospect, but the main focus of my collection is just that collecting.

I rip prospect products for the fun of it. Instead of selling stuff right away, I like to let them sit for a few years and see if they make it.

I've never sold a card of either Upton and don't plan on it. I do have an extra B.J. Gold Refractor RC, I might sell one if he gets really hot, but it would be very hard. I also used to have a number of prospects I collected(Fielder, Mauer, Tui, Milledge, Dioner, Joel Guzman, etc.). I might have one or two I might be collecting now, not sure yet.

Yes. Its the reason I used to buy 2 of certain cards :D . I will say, there is almost no card in my collection, prospect or other wise, that I wouldn't sale for the right price.

Yes, I collect cards of prospects.

But there ALWAYS is a price at which one will sell their cards.

Just because you collect something doesn't mean they are untouchable.

But I also prospect prospects, ie , have no emotional attachments to cards of those players. If I can make money, I sell them.

For the most part I buy my Dodgers prospects with no intention of selling. That said, I do sell from time to time when prices are stupidly high or if it's to fund a Superfractor or Red parallel that doesn't come around often. The Superfractors I hope to never sell though but like it was said before, everyone has a selling point they'd probably crazy to ignore.

I'm not a prospector, but I recently decided to pick up 1 auto of each of the years hitter prospects that I like. I don't plan to sell them if they make it big. It justs helps me follow the minors more and gives me someone to root for. Oh, and I'd love to have a high end rc auto of a star that I picked up cheap before they made it big and couldn't afford it :D

I have a few prospects that I will sell if their prices peak....with the intent to repurchase the cards for my collection at a later date at a lower price.
