Let me start by saying ***IF the reports are true

There has been many reports written that Adrian Peterson had never even met his two year old child until he went to the hospital to see him after he was beaten, and later passed away.

With that being said, does this make you think differently about him? I ask mainly because we tend to hold these players in such high regards. We often think they are "great guys", even if we truthfully know next to nothing about them on a personal level.

Curious everyone's thoughts.

Personally, I can't respect a man who has nothing to do with his children, and views them as strictly a financial burden.

Absolutely not. His personal life is none of my business. In my opinion choosing to view any celebrity through the lens of anything other than their talent is a fool's errand. Enjoy them for their craft, and leave it at that.

no, I don't think differently about him as tons of athletes in the major sports are essentially ***** donors to women who are looking for income streams through a child with an athlete.

If he were the exception instead of the rule, it would affect my thoughts to the negative about him.

wasn't it reported that he didn't even know about this child until about 2 months ago??? a report I read stated he had just recently found out about having another son and he had a visit scheduled to come visit him but he ended up meeting him for the first time in the hospital due to these unfortunate circumstances.

what had me wondering is if he is married to the mother of his other 2 children and this child was the result of an affair???

You don't know anything about him. What you read in the newspaper is not what is in his head or heart. Judging a man you know, relatively, NOTHING about is wrong.

To answer the question: no, it doesn't change my thoughts about him.

I also read that he just found out. And was actually the second option on a paternity test. The mother didn't even know he was AP's. As for an affair or how the baby came, that isn't any of my business.

Honestly, I think it's weird to speculate about an incident in his private life when there are very few details made publicly available.

As to answer the OP's question, as of right now, no, my opinion has not changed of him.

Why would my opinion change? He had a child out of wedlock. The mother didn't notify him until a fee months ago. That's on her. From what has been reported on tmz he did the right thing when he was approached by the woman and was working on meeting the child.

If my opinion would have changed it would be more sympathetic. He's probably going to have guilt now and a life of what ifs regarding the child.

I didnt really have any opinion of him before the incident, so no, this doesnt change anything. Hell of a football player though. I dont really care about the personal lives of any of these guys, doesnt interest me in the least. Most of what you hear about guys is bs anyways, unless you actually know them you dont know them at all.

As someone else said, if we were to base our opinions on a Player by their personal life, and specifically the number of children, then we'd be sorely disappointed. Hell, the NBA arenas would be even more empty...

I have met some athletes and even that is usually too quick to judge them by. I usually decide by their teammates reaction to them and the way they handle themselves publicly.
