I have a customer who comes in every so often for some packs plus he also buys from retail stores.

So he came in today and asked me the above question. It seemed like a crazy question until I actually thought about it.

The last PACK Topps put out was ginter five weeks ago and by the time chrome arrives, it'll be two months!

And since he really only dabbles in cards, he doesn't keep up with all the stuff and missed due dates, etc.

All he knows is what I mention to him weekly and what's in every new beckett.

And since tier one is $100 a pack, it's not in Wal-Mart or target.

So after I assured him they still have the license, I also told him much has been pushed back but October looks like a loaded month.

That's just one collector, I wonder how many others are wondering what the duck is happening at Topps?

Lol. I guess the casual collector could see that. I'm the opposite of most I suppose. I love tribute, gypsy and or ginter. Base topps has never been something I pick up but the rest? You can have them. I think topps alone has to much product filled with garbage..well not garbage but for the collector looking for bang for your buck the chances are slim you'll get close in a majority of cases. I don't care about box value because I buy singles just going off the majority of what I hear and see on ebay after release.
My biggest peeve is the number of parallels and manufactured sps in every product

Topps is a crock! Wait, you want us to put out MLB cards during the actual MLB season? Blasphemy!

Have you seen all the new parallels in the 2014 Bowman preview?

They can't help but to be junky without the use of real baseball pics and logos.

The amount of basketball products this year was/is insane.

*23 so far this year, with multiple more STILL coming with "rookies" from 2 years ago.

How did people collect from 1974 to 1980?

Most people didn't have ADD or were not used to having so many releases like today's collectors who remember about 1990's to 2009 -- before Topps exclusivity still meant quite a few releases but not as much as with Donruss and UD, etc. in the picture.

I started 1981 and I was fine - couldn't afford boxes at the time on a kid's budget so bought a few packs/rack packs a week and accumulated my cards over months. By the time I was satisfied with one year's release through purchases and cataloging/sorting, the next years' cards showed up on the shelves.

edit: what the duck is up with topps? I bet holding out a little bit on remaining releases to try to make sure the late season's hottest prospect callups and rookies that drive product sales will be able to make the base sets and auto/relics.

BBC - You should have said "Yep, sure do!" and showed him a redemption.

Topps is a business now more than ever. They're developing and releasing product based on a fiscal calendar, not a sports calendar.

I've discussed this many times with customers that have been bored with the lack of products released by this point in the season. Agreed that October should be big though!

Obviously, this will never happen but here's the release calendar I think Topps should use.

There's a reason why I feel these products should be issued where they are listed, where it's history or proper spacing.

I'm also using the current roster of sets and trying to be realistic with each.
My spacing and month of issue are very strategically planned

January
Bowman sterling (from previous year)

February
Topps
Tribute

March
Heritage
Museum

April
Opening day
Bowman

May
Gypsy queen
Pro debut

June
Tier one
Ginter

July
Topps 2
Bowman chrome

August
Archives
Triple threads

September
Bowman platinum
Heritage minors

October
Topps update
Topps chrome

November
Finest

December
Bowman draft
Five star

I've been out of the hobby for a decade and a half. First new product I bought were the Topps Heritage that looked like the '64's. I was like, " WTF no Donruss?" :)
