Excellent win for the Don Zimmer PC - his signed 1961 contract to play for my favorite team, the Chicago Cubs. $19,000 got the Cubbies a second-rate second basemen, although he did make both 1961 All-Star games (they played 2 that year). Love that the original mailing envelope was included!

Great pick-up of Zim! Never cared for him back in the day as Sox manager, but he seems like a great baseball guy.

Yeah, most Red Sox fans hate him. 1978 kind of soured them on him, to put it mildly.

...yup, I was 12 in '78 and that was a tough year....great comeback only to lose the one game playoff. Also felt bad for him about the Pedro incident earlier in the decade.

That's a great pick-up for any baseball fan, and especially for you. I hope I can pick up something as unique as that for my Sox collection. I had to check out who sold that and that seller has a lot of great items.

Amazing! Cool that you have not only the contract, but also the certified mail envelope (with address!) :o

Got the contract in hand. In case anyone has ever wanted to read a 1960's MLB contract...

AWESOME piece! Congrats!

I don't know if this matters, but maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to blur out his Social Security Number on the image you posted? Just a suggestion.

Wow, not a bad contract for a guy who was 74 years old at the time!
