somebody completely jacks up the value of a card just because they know you collect that player and think they can get alot out of you, i mean i know its natural to try to get the most you can get for something, but sometimes it just gets rediculous, for example guy has a keller exquisite au/patch, one of the less flashy patches ive seen, books 60, wants 4 cards for a total bv of 80 plus 15 paypal, like come on

just needed to vent

thanks

It's called greed. Some people are pathetic, but it's just how it goes sometimes. Be patient. The same card will pop up on Ebay eventually for way less.

Actually I have done this to myself. I bought many a cards of my guy and since I did that in a week
then next week the cards listed cost me more then the week before.

Though I'm sure the same thing has happened to everybody here, I'll relay a story.

I once saw a box break with a card in it that I really liked. The break said that all the cards were available. I contacted the seller with an opening offer that I thought was reasonable, but on the lower end of what I was willing to pay. I figured he'd counter with a higher offer, but apparently I showed a little too much enthusiasm towards the card and the guy was asking 2.5x as much as my offer. He told me he had offers as high as 2x my offer (which I'm pretty sure was a lie) and that the price was pretty firm. Long story short, I declined the offer and a month later a redemption for the same card appears on ebay which I proceeded to win for less than my initial offer. Boy, I felt good about that one.

Man, that's the worst. I expect that if you offer a deal than you keep it if and when the other party accepts. If you're not willing to do it then don't even offer. Things like that just give you a bad reputation.

Back in the old Beckett days I would make threads looking for Darius Walker. I would get countless replies saying something like: I have his Press Pass auto, would trade it for your Santonio Holmes Turkey Red auto. ::facepalm::

It's like, c'mon, just because I collect Darius Walker doesn't mean I am out of my damn mind.

I remember in 2006, I was wanting some John Navarres. The guy had a policy of autos for autos and jersey for jersey etc in his sig which is fine. I asked him who he collected and his answer was Bush, Leinart, Young. :?

I've been there too! Most everyone knows I'm a big Seahawks collector and in 2007, my focus was Darryl Tapp. After winning plate after plate for $15-20, one shows up for $60. It is still in that ebay store, still for $59.99. Apparently its a consignment piece
